Kings with 3 people in trouble with the law during the off-season and during in-season, NONE OF THOSE 3 PEOPLE IN TROUBLE with the Law is named Cousins. Lawson, Collison, Barnes. Anyone got JailBlazersKings I'm missing??
Kings now have Cap Room to sign free agents Such as: Anthony Tolliver, A. Affolo, Garrett Temple, Matt Barnes, and TY DUI LAWSON.
Lost in all of this: Vlade was Boogie before Boogie was ever born. How many years did it take for Vlade to play inspired basketball, and Magic kicking him in his ass.
Cousins was involved in a bar fight in New York. When a reporter in Sac wrote about that story and also linked it to his brother, Cousins went crazy on the reporter and bullied him in front of the camera. You are giving him too much credits.
A complete bust? No, but based on the fact that he played all four years at OU, has struggled doing the one thing he does well (shoot/score) and is undersized..... he wouldn't have a value anywhere near the #6 pick (where he was taken). He would probably be worth a pick in the late teens to a team that really likes him, otherwise in the 20's. The Pelicans have had him on the market for awhile, which speaks of his perceived value. Sacramento gets a #1 pick in the late teens to early 20's. They get the #2 from Philly which is equal to a late #1...... and most importantly they are going to try and save their own #1 by falling deeper in the lottery and not have to send it to Chicago. I know this is a strong draft as well, but they had to get more for 28/11/1.5. There are two sides to this.... teams that have bigs that can shoot the three ball well are going to torch the Pelicans.
@Nook the Kings pick can also be swapped by the Sixers in this draft (as part of the Stauskas+Landry trade)
Looking at how Vlade panicked with his trade (quick, do it now...NOW!!!!), every GM is probably just licking their chops to deal with the Kings again to see how they can get in on the fleecing.
Nah, he's not struggling ... that's overblown from his opening bad month he is shooting 37% from 3 for the season on 4.2 attempts/gm He leads the rookie class in 3pt shooting for qualifying players by a big margin (1 make/gm is required for leaderboard) Since November, in the last 38 games, he is shooting 43%. He had a bad first month. See my thread about him. There are surprisingly very few rookies who shoot this well from 3 over last 6 years....and he's in company with very big names. And that includes his bust November. Are you sure you are not merely calling him a disappointment based on just his first month in the NBA?
Holiday / Frazier Galloway Hill / Asspi Davis / Jones Cousins / Donatas / Asik Pretty decent squad going forward. I think a roster is easy to build when you have the 4/5 taken care of with all-star bigs. After that you take care of Playmaker/PG aka primary ballhandler and if Holiday stays healthy he can be a great starter for them. Then you just need a 3 and D wing and a secondary playmaker/sharpshooter. That is the perfect roster imo, especially since Davis...and Cousins can hit threes. If I still played 2k MyGM the Pelicans would be the team I pick to rebuild every time.
Decided to hop over to the Kings fansite just to lurk. Good lord, this is one of the saddest posts ever in a fan forum: My dad and I decided to put our money where our mouth was and go half on a couple of seats for the first 3 years at the G1C. To the tune of... get ready for it... grab a paper bag... $127,000. Yes. I know. Shoot me in the ****ing face right now. Sure I can write off a decent portion of the cost as a business expense by bring my clients but that doesn't make it hurt any worse. Like a fool, I believed in this team. Making me the biggest f'ing idiot of them all. Ouch.
i wouldn't say it's that easy. You still need a legit wing that's atleast a all star caliber player to actually be able to truthfully compete. And finding the right one can be very tricky.
I think a lot of you are underestimating how toxic Cousins has been since he entered the league, especially lately. You can tell he wanted out of Sacramento and everyone knew it. He is a big man, and Rockets fans know how bigs are treated vs little guys. He is the polar opposite of Yao Ming. He will scream at the refs and I don't blame him, but he could end up like Bynum/Sanders if things don't work out in NO. I don't know if he loves playing basketball or even likes it, but I do know he cares about other things too much and enjoys/wants the rockstar life style. Teams knew all of this and someone was bound to take advantage of Sac town. If he can straighten up he will succeed. If not, then he will be the one everyone blames and his rep will be tarnished/hard to fix. It's really his last chance and he needs things to work out in NOH. As an NBA fan, I want things to work out. The 5 out offense is interesting. As a Rockets fan...I can't say.
$127k is chum change for rich people in N. CAL. like he said, he's writing it off as a business expense, same as the money they spent on Hookers in strip clubs Tom Haberstroh @tomhaberstroh "Character matters"?
