I think it would take a lot more to get Dwight Howard.

...ya, they can ask for a lot more but are they seriously going to get it? Every team in the league low balled them as soon as they heard this story. When a team HAS to trade a guy, they lose negotiating power. Cousins had a ton of question marks coming out of college and so far he has mostly proved the doubters right with the biggest knock on him coming true right now - that he can't coexist within a team. Sure, any team would want to take a shot with him but I don't think teams will be giving up a lot for him. Look at what other teams got for trading established stars in recent memory - not a lot...and Cousins isn't even "established". The Kings might be happy taking a few of Houston's players and maybe a pick in this year's draft.

    I'd start with:

    Jordan Hill
    Goran Dragic
    Marcus Morris
    NY 2012 pick

    for

    Cousins

I don't know what work ethic DeMarcus has but I think he had one of the highest body fat percentage among draftees.

...Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.

That's what it took to get Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and some trash players...and that's with Melo already agreeing to sign an extension with NY.

With no long term commitment, why would anyone give up more for Howard than what you saw in the NY/Den trade? You are confusing Howard's worth as a player with his trade value. The situation he is in limits his value in a trade. The way I see it, the two best offers Orlando has is Andrew Bynum or Martin/Scola and if Houston could get Cousins there, they would probably take a chance on that. You can talk about Howards value all you want but unless you come up with some plausible scenarios of what other teams would be willing to give up for Howard, you have no argument.

I don't see D12 as a possibility because he hasn't shown any desire to play here.

The difference is, they don't HAVE to trade Cousins. They could just as easily fire PW and retain their franchise center, or they can do nothing and wait for it to resolve on its own. The teams who have traded stars in the recent past all seem to have one thing in common. The player was going to be a free agent and wanted out. Cousins is on his rookie deal and he has many more years as a King should they choose to keep him. Further, I think you could argue that Denver got a very good deal for Melo, and likewise for Utah and Williams. New Orleans got a whole lot in return for Paul. In any case, giving up only Scola and one of the 09 busts is far inferior to any of the trades above. I understand that Cousins is not the same in stature as those players, but he is a big time prospect on a rookie deal that will not end in the near future. Considering his age, production thus far, and contract I would assume it would take more. The scarcity of skilled 7 footers only adds to his value. Should a bidding war start for Cousins, it would be difficult to say exactly what it would take to land him.

Tracy was a top 5 player at that time......I don't know what try to say.
Tracy had no problems with Jeff Van Gundy.
Cousins demanded to be traded in his second year. Cousins is a project and

I said it times and times again: That draft wasn't even one of the best. John is hitting the Wall. Turner Evan, Favors and Johnson didn't make strides.

I say if you want to gamble, please gamble on someone that has more potential/talent.

New Jersey gave a whole lot up for Deron Williams without a guarantee he would stay.

You can't amnesty players that weren't on your team before this season started, and you can't trade newly signed players til later in the season (I think someone said march 1st).

Outlaw was amnestied and picked up by the kings. I think they have to wait either a month or a year before they can trade him.

Jordan Hill, Marcus Morris, and 1st round pick for Demarcus Cousins

It's not everyday you have a legit shot at getting a franchise center. Ya Cousins is kind of a dumbass but he's also very skilled. It's worth the risk.

    wow...

    "tip of the iceberg"
"silly to have agent deny, told me twice yesterday. the agent wasn't there"
"looking to trade? you'll have to ask geoff about that"
"best solution because i think it's time"
"many things that goes on behind closed doors"
"you can only have so many chance before something has to be done"
"we're going to keep trying to build this team with the same direction that we want to go"
"if he chooses not to do that then we'll be better off"
"demarcus has to do some soul searching and decide to join in"

-cousins asked him on two separate occasions to be traded
-seems like they'll keep him inactive until he comes around or they'll trade him
-the players seem to be blaming westphal but you can't have more than one headcases/ball hogs on a team and sac has 3+
-apparently this event has a real chance of turning extremely sour

Not really an option. You can't let a second-year journeyman basically run your team. It didn't work for Cleveland, and Cousins is no LeBron--not by a long shot.

Probably the best option. If I were the Kings I'd let him sit on the bench until he pulls his head out of his backside. The fact that they let out he has asked for a trade is the one reason I think they might actually be considering it.

For those curious, teams that have liked Cousins and figure to call the Kings are Houston and Detroit. Kings say they aren't trading Cousins

    mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
Kings adamant Cousins said he wanted to be traded. Cousins side is if he such a cancer why doesn't the team trade him?

    mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
Cousins felt singled out by Westphal after the loss to the Knicks, which began this scenario. Westphal/DMC spoke in coach's office.

    mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
Kings say they have kept other problems with Cousins under wraps but last night meant something had to be done to send a message.

    mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
The question is what about demanding a trade requires a player to sit out? Dwight Howard is playing, right? Wonder about incidents...

    mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
...not being discussed. By the way, Kigns won 96-80 to improve to 2-3 on the season, end 3-game losing streak. 27pts for Evans, Thornton: 25

    mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
Team flight leaves for Memphis at 1pm tomorrow. Cousins could fly commercial for Tuesday's game if he misses the flight

    mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
Westphal said it would be "up to" Cousins to decide if he makes trip to Memphis, Denver since he was the one that asked to be traded.

With Morey's track record in big trades I'm not counting on him getting this deal done however feasible or non-feasible it is because so far magical and trade has not been Morey's forte.
