This team could use 7.6 rebounds in 20.2 minutes. Yeah he only played well offensively like once every eight games or so, but we might've won that game.
No shot. Probably would have dominated at Kentucky, but didn't stay in college long enough. Had some good season with the Kings, but never carried them to the postseason. In fact, he's only played in the playoffs once, on Golden State's 2019 squad. When he was on the Pelicans, they made it to the playoffs, but that was the season where he tore his Achilles. tl;dr - didn't stay in college long enough for any accolades. Didn't win enough on the pro level. And he's also a headcase off the court, which is also a red flag, even if people say it isn't.
This thread brings back fond memories of that one drive that felt like it took him 35 seconds to get to the rim but I know it did not because the shot clock did not go off.
People think cousins is some tough guy? The guy that tried to be that guy and did the exact same thing and left the first chance he could lol
It's not about leaving. BBall is business. It's about HOW he left. Harden showed up out of shape to training camp and threw his own teammates under the bus. In short, Harden acted like a little B.
Cousins showed up and tried to act like he was here to play with who was here. Then he left first chance he got. Who gives af whats its about. Cousins is an idiot and always has been
If all you look at is the final result, then yea, both left the team. My take is it isn't about what they did. It's about how they did it.
https://www.si.com/nba/2022/04/27/demarcus-cousins-nuggets-nba-playoffs Cousins admits: He thought about quitting. “A lot of doors closed,” Cousins says. Houston, where Cousins played 25 games in 2020-21, was rock bottom. “It was horrible,” Cousins said. “A lot of teams promise you one thing, will tell you something in your face, and when the time comes around, no phone calls, they go silent. They tell you one thing and then tell your agent another. It's just a lot of bulls---. There's a lot of bulls--- in this business, and in my eyes, a lot of it's unfair. But it is what it is.”
Cousins used to be extremely rare, a skilled big guy. Now he's still somewhat rare but some teams will play a smaller guy to make up for the skills difference. And, he's also just not what he used to be. Teams will accept a star big not being a good defender but they need their role players to defend well. So, that leaves him in a very special use case. One of his biggest skills is playmaking and it's unlikely most teams will use their backup center as the primary playmaker in their offense. He should have taken as much money as he could instead of going to the Warriors.
