Morning Joe yesterday did a segment on this showing that terms such as 'Defund the Police" and the "Socialism" did hurt the Democrat House races.

The DNC overall is cowardly, their mealy mouthedness is part of the problem - pick a stance and FIGHT FOR IT.....

    ...I understand, @DaDakota.

I would say that what the Democrats need to do, is learn HOW to fight for things.

Popular opinions and votes have routinely shown that, at least in terms of practicality, what Democrats often align with is generally acceptable (even desirable) to much of the nation.

Campaigning (and specifically, "sloganeering"), however, has degenerated steadily for years into a theater of the absurd. For both Democrats and Republicans, to varying degrees.

Which is how you wind up with a degenerate posing as president of the United States, among other things.

I understand the need to win over voters who might have a long-cultivated bias about your party (here I mean Democrats, but you could also say pretty much the same thing about Republicans).

But the truth (plain, simple, authentic) will win over as many people as it needs to win over, I believe. The only help it needs is people willing to tell the truth if they insist on having the biggest mouthpiece.

Even firefighters will tell you that "...fighting fire with fire..." is misunderstood at best... and if applied literally, is just a way to get everything burned down more quickly. You use "fire" to fight "fire" by creating a break between the two conflagrations, and exhausting the air that's got both flames roaring.

Then you have to put that second fire out.

The social unrest issues...the economic issues...the government issues...all are fires that needed to be started in order to counter the greed, indifference and malice that fanned them into existence in the first place.

But how a good politician must harness and use those fires, I believe, is to make sure that the primal message they are delivering, is presented with conviction, decency, and above all, truth (the "break" between both fires).

You don't remove the emotion from any argument (that's about as much of an impossibility as Donald Trump actually being conscientious)...

...the emotion, in point of fact, is very often what drives the argument...

...but what makes us human (and to varying degrees, civil), is our ability - or I should say willingness - to harness that emotion for the right causes and for the right reasons.

If we've learned anything from the Donald's slapstick, vaudevillian presidency...
...we ought to have learned at how effective the reverse of that formula is on the other side...

No.... they don’t have mythos, traditions, and nostalgia like conservatives do. From my perspective, conservatives have a built in advantage. No one wants the the “nostalgia status quo” moreso than conservatives.

If most of the gop consisted of good people and not trolls, I would love the compromising attitude. But you go in with this mindset vs Mitch, Cruz and the rest of the anti- Christ Christians ..it's not going to end well. Some of you are more optimistic

I understand the attitude but running on "ending the filibuster" or "packing the courts" aren't going to be winning slogans. GA isn't CA. It's not a blue state but a purple state that Biden has won narrowly and is far from certain that the Democrats can win either of the Senate seats.

You don't have to run a slogan or campaign on it. In fact I've said when it came to the 'abolish' ICE movement that you don't say Abolish ice. But you crumble it when you have the chance.

The problem with most Democrats is that they are more ideologists than politicians, and, in the current political climate, that's like bringing a pillow to a gunfight against the GOP

I would say the establishment Democrats like Pelosi and Shumer are the very opposite of ideological. They stand by their fundraising ability and that's about it.

It drives me nuts how unprepared they are........in debates....when they say..." Going to cut out Fracking"

The DEM should laugh, and say, come on, this is ridiculous - Oil will be a staple for the next 50-100 years, but it will eventually run out, so it is time for us to put some investment towards the future of renewables"

This tells JOHN Q OIL DRILLER that his job is safe......and that we are planning for his children to be safe....>WIN WIN....

When they say...The DEMS are going to raise your taxes ...... chuckle and say "We are not raising taxes on anyone making less than 400k per year, but we can't have companies like Amazon paying ZERO in taxes, we need to be fair to everyone"

When they say....."Universal Healthcare won't work and is socialist"........they should say....."We are looking at creating a healthcare option that allows folks to join if it saves them money, if not, you can keep your own current healthcare, but this will allow the UHC to negotiate down drug and procedure pricing which will save people money"

You have to EQUATE things to HOW it saves them money.
