How so? I know I'm going to lug the thing around for a while so the Inspirion 17 inch maybe out of the question. I want a big screen but it maybe too big for what I'm going to be doing with it, I'll also more than likely hook it up to a monitor when I get home.

Anybody have any input on Vaio's? I've had a couple Viao desktops but never a laptop.

Buy a Macbook or Macbook Pro and run everything you can on it. When you find a program you can't use on the Mac, just boot up Windows(on your Mac since it will rund both Mac OS and Windows) and run what you need.

I've had an inspiron for several years now......no problems. And I use the hell out of it.........I average about ten hours a day on it......seven days a week; from work to surf, I'm always on.

I bought a new one yesterday because I just couldn't pass up the deal. I had wanted to get a Mac (you know. ...to be cool and all), but I just couldn't afford the tarrif. I configured the Dell to with the same or better componants than the 17" MacBook Pro (The Dell had more RAM, a faster HD, and several other goodies like a Soundblaster X-Fi card), and the Dell came out THIRTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS after tax and shipping. The Macs are pretty, and it would have been nice to learn about 'em on Leapord and still use XP and Windows programs with bootcamp, but the Mac is worth more than 50% more than the Dell in the same way that Polo jeans are worth more than Levi's. I will admit though......I'll format the HD when I get it and clean install Vista or XP (haven't decided yet, I like XP, but I feel a responsibility to get better acclimated to Vista because people lean on my for tech support.......even though I'm no longer officially in IT)
