Raptors plan to bring in international players for stability not looking as good...if Chris Bosh leaves in a couple years they better start overpaying for Euro talent. Or do better than Bargnani for draft picks.

But as the Euroleague gets better and makes more money (or if their dollar is already worth more) who's gonna want to go to the NBA in the first place?

But that belongs in another forum...

the comparison between Steve Novak and Carlos Delfino is way off. Delfino has slashing ability and superior athleticism compared to Novak. Steve Novak is pretty much a one trick pony..shooting the three.

Average slashing ability, superior athleticism?? That is average as well. Bottom line, this el_locoteee is trying to make this Delfino look way better than what he is, bottom line is he is AVERAGE IN everything you mentioned... at best. I wouldn't trade Luther Head for Delfino... much more sign him as a free agent.

The bottomline is that you are making a horrible comparison b/w Novak and Delfino. Regardless of how "average" his athleticism is to you, he is in fact superior to Novak in the department.

Athleticism is not just defined by jumping ability. Novak has a horrible leap, has horrible lateral movement, has crappy timing (hence bad rebounder), is slow, etc etc. Delfino is superior in all those categories compared to Novak.

Umm you do realise that super and superIOR are two different words which mean two different things right? Just about everybody in the NBA has superior athleticism to Novak.

dude, just search for their highlights on youtube, i don't think you will find any highlights of Novak slashing to the basket. It is relevant because our team needs more slashers who can draw fouls and put pressure on the opposing team's defense.

If he was closely similar to Novak, I don't think he would crack the rotation in Detroit or Toronto for that matter.

or maybe someone can post youtube highlights of Delfino and Novak to end the discussion.

ok, lets make this more clear in regards to the Delfino/ Novak comparison

Delfino is better athletically than Novak. Novak is just a better shooter, however Delfino, is a better defender, slasher and ball handler than Novak.

The next debate would you prefer him over Head as a back up to Tmac?

I would prefer none. Both are terrible, and we need to find upgrades here so we can lessen T-mac's minutes so fatigue/back problems/knee problems/what ever else doesn't come into an effect. Head or Delfino could not provide quality minutes.

Lol. Looks like someone crapped up and has too much of an ego to admit it.

Carlos Delfino like Steve Novak. Nice. Almost nicer than Lovemachine's post about Joey Dorsey developing 3-point range. :D

That said, I would pass on Delfino. I admit I haven't watched much of him lately in Toronto, but have seen quite a bit of him when he was in Detroit. The comparisons are valid. This guy is like a 6'6" version of Luther Head. Does a little bit of everything, above average athleticism, and looks good when everything's clicking for him.

But when it's not, boy oh boy, he does some things that make you just scratch your head. I'd take Pietrus over him anyday.

    Can Pietrus play SG?

I will love to see him in a Houston uniform.

Agreed. i think we should take our time in surveying our other options out there. One lesson learned from last season is that we shouldn't be impulsive when making decisions to trade or acquire another player. I'm sure Dallas learned its lesson, or is it just Mark Cuban's karma catching up with him.

Delfino is a better slasher than luther but not as good a shooter. If we could package all our tradeable assets to acquire that one superstar that could fit in, it would be better.

A superstar will be near impossible without loosing a key player(s), but a star maybe.

Delfino has more talent than manu, but he doesn't have "it".He tends to go brain dead sometimes, and we already have Head for that.

I watched about 40 Raptors games last year and can say, without a doubt, that Delfino would be a good addition to the Rockets.

But, as a Canadian, I'm really hoping he stays with Toronto.

wouldn't be a bad choice if the guy comes with a reasonable demand for his contract. i have no idea how much he made in the past or how much he could get from the euro market, but say half of the mle for 3 yrs?
