Yes, he is. He is also a dumbass for blocking funding for light rail to Houston while he approved it for Dallas. The guy is even disliked in Republican circles around Houston. The mayor's, state reps and county reps (all of whom are Republicans) of his constituency have all pleaded with him to let go of various funding he won't allow for roads, light rail, etc because their communities need it and he's opposed to it. I'm sure that "Hillbilly" Rodham Clinton (as you put it once) was deserving of that moniker in your mind. For many of us, "dumbass" fits The Hammer very nicely.
I will be receiving an absentee ballot soon for my Sugar Land precinct, where I am a registered voter. You can bet that I'll vote for whoever is running against him. Any other Sugar Land people should do the same. DeLay is a grade A moron.l
This has been said before, but I just cannot understand how this guy continues to get elected time and time again. He won by somewhere around 85% in the primaries, right? And what the hell is his problem with Houston? Why does he hate us so much that he continues to deny funding for roads and rail when it is so obvious that we need it? And how exactly is he powerful enough to do this? The guy is a congressman from Sugarland and is the House Whip (right?). How does this give him the power to continue to just say, "No. Houston can't have anything."? I hate him. And yes, he is a dumbass.
http://www.timrileyforcongress.com/ Tom Delay once said that there was no room in the Army for people like him and Dan Quayle because so many minority youths had gone into uniform to escape poverty and the ghetto. I'm sure he still remembers the day that he tried to sign up down at the recruiting station and was run over by all the volunteering minorities.
I liked Grant Teaff's comment in the Dallas Morning News: Grant Teaff, former Baylor head football coach, said he found the Waco school to be "uniquely Christian." But Mr. Teaff was charitable. "That could have been said with tongue in cheek or a smile on his face," he said. "I give him the benefit of the doubt and go on about my business because it really doesn't make any difference what he thinks.
i believe he is on or heads the appropriations committee (or finance committee whichever is in the house) and that makes you pretty damn powerful. if he's not and it's some other texas rep/senator that is then i have no idea. before this article i didn't know anything about delay and i was glad someone from texas was powerful in the house. now i'm not that glad and finding out he hates houston makes me less glad.
