Not only is he a great defensive player but he's also a great locker room guy and will show his support from the bench even if he's not getting the playing time. He's a great vocal leader for this heartless team.

    this is f@#ked up....

deke is an incredible locker room presence and the best cheerleader in the NBA.

on top of that he's a defensive stud and while i'm sure we'll be fine eventually, is there a coincidence that we've given up like a billion layups since he's been gone?

anyone who says he's washed up hasn't been paying attention at all the last few years. unbelievable. i'd trade joey dorsey for even half a season of deke.

i've been banking on him inevitably coming back and saving our ass, him going to boston would really really f#$k us.

I would understand his decision to go to the Celtics. I hope he'll sign with us. We desperately need a 7-footer who is decent for the playoffs. By the way,
what happen to Cato? Is he available?

it would be very dumb if we let Deke go, but put us in Deke's shoe, this is the best chance for him to get a ring, it is good for him

You guys who think DEKE is the best Backup Center are wrong.

What is a Backup Center? Someone who can come in to play 10-15 minutes OR someone who will play 35+ minutes if the starter goes down due to injury.

On this team with Yao Ming, we need a backup center who can play more than 10-15 minutes. What if Yao goes down again? Is Deke going to be able to play 35 - 40 minutes. NO.

What happened last season? Deke faded after an initial energy burst when Yao went out.

WE definitely need a backup center who is not 45 years old. We need a young center who is 7'0+ who can play starter minutes if Yao goes down.

Deke is only effective for 10-15 minutes at most, and he's only a defensive player.

Let's move on, and find someone younger.

I would like Deke back, but I don't care, I just hope he signs somewhere so this team can move forward with what we have with or without him.

I can't imagine why this hasn't been resolved other than the Rockets want to acquire a younger center at the trade deadline.

I disagree, I want a veteran back-up center, not a young inexperienced one ... Zaza Pachulia could be a nice option!

I love Deke by far my favorite Rocket, not only as a player but what he does off the court. People are saying the Rockets need a big man with with Deke's skills defensively, anId more offensive skills, fine. Does anyone in their right mind think they Rockets can find a guy in the middle of the season? Plus a guy with those skills would likely cost about at least 8 million a year. It is a shame if he goes, I will have a great problem with Morey and Les, the fact that either one of those people have not contacted or returned his calls is a huge slap in his face. If they simply said, "We are sorry we have not been able to clear up salary space, or are looking to move into a different direction" fine. If he doesn't sign with the Rockets and the Rockets don't win the championship this year, I hope he goes to whoever wins the title this year, either it being the Celtics or hell even the Spurs.

Hope i edit it correctly. But those vids you just show are 2 years ago or more. Except for that impressive 4 blocks in 1 quarter just by basing it at the posted time of the vids.

Get this, he is old. Let him rest his old bones at home.

Yes he do have 1 of the highest per for rebounds and blocks, but he cant play more minutes that what he does last season.

And if he do join the rox, when do you want to put him in? Along side scola? Landry? hayes..... And whos minutes you want to cut out for him?

I agree. I really like Mutumbo and would love to have him on this team but I think we should move on without him if a workable deal can't reach or he really wants a ring.

I still hope though that when Mutumbo retires we could bring him back in some capacity. Say as an assistant coach to work on defense with the big men. Like others have said he is a great presence and it would beneft the organization just to have him around.

If Deke signs with the Celtics, I will once again hate him and his finger wag. I hated it so much until he became a Rocket.
