Listen read my post again. I am not applying Deke is better than Yao, but in some instances Deke put up decent numbers in blks and rdb that rival Yao's (while he was out of course). My point is Deke is the best backup for Yao than anyone backup center we can find. Also I know Deke was pretty much playing when Yao's injured last season, I think that was more of a design that we prefer a smaller lineup and it runs faster. However that was last season and this season teams has changed. Deke will proven his worth to us specially in the post season. If Yao's in foul trouble and we are playing against taller team, deke can provide us with no drop in defense and rebounds. My point is we need to get Deke back. who else is going to practice with Yao? we got no tall players!
add to that the fact that he anchored the twenty two game winning streak and it surely doesn't make sense.
It looks to me that the situation is that the Rockets are too cheap to offer Deke anything more than the vet minimum for 3 months. If Mumtombo signs with the Celtics, good luck to him.
well the cheap owner should stop being so cheap otherwise houston will never win any more than a few titles, was he cheap as well during the b2b titles in 94-95? I would think that he was not as cheap but probably cheap since you want to open up the franchise to get more fans part of business strategies is what I would figure... if one day we were to pay LT and actually sign everyone we need we could at least increase our chances of getting more titles in a long run, how is this years team not worth LT for a title its fit for a champ contender. we really need to sign deke if we dont it truly shows how cheap this team is... I dont think we can find any vet cheaper than deke...

Morey has really come through in bringing the right talent to Houston. If Deke doesn't come back, well then thats what Deke deals with, not us. I trust that Morey will do whats best for the team, and who knows, Deke might come back. Morey has been hush on this, which leads me to think that he's closer than we think...

For Christ's sake the guy can't catch a pass and when he does it takes him 3 seconds to gather himself and in that time the defense swarms on him and usually strips him. He has the worst hands in the NBA. And that is just offense. On defense he is useless against most of the NBA Centers and Power Forwards. If a guy's offensive game is 6 feet or in from the basket then Deke is effective. Everyone else kills him with their foot speed even worse than they do to Yao. Apart from a block here and there and some solid offensive rebounding he is a liability on the court. If he was still effective he would get minutes when Yao is healthy instead of riding the pine until Yao goes down for the season. He should have retired 2 seasons ago. He was a great player but enough is enough.
i hope he brings back deke. age doesnt matter to him. he can still block shots for us and alter shots as well. he is still a defenseive presence.
NOOO!! pls deke we need you out there man. we need your experience, size and defensive capabilities which would really really help out a lot this season. Morey pls get him. if he goes to boston then they'll basically just turn into a totally dominant team, as if they're not dominant enough.
If Morey's not planning on resigning Deke, then he better make a move on another big now. Its gonna be a tough January.
