Deke is great insurance to have if Yao goes down. Trade either Chuck or Head for a 2nd round pick or something and make some room!

IBM- I will take outlaw and frye for battier. They need a solid veteran and we need young legs and size.

it's a shame, really. he wanted to finish his career here, even though he knew that boston and maybe the lakers had a better chance to win the championship, but instead we leave him hanging.

    this is not good news.

on the other hand, having Landry, Scola, and Yao playing the post positions, i think we're fine unless one or more of them gets an injury.

Heads will roll if Deke is not in a Rockets uniform by the beginning of 2009.

Deke is only half a center. He has no offense, and he's too old.

The Rockets need to get a legitimate backup for Yao. They really need another big 7'+ player.

Rockets fans pin their hopes on everything except what is on the floor. When Battier was hurt, it was, "Wait until Battier is back!" When TMac was hurt, it was, "Wait until TMac is back!" With Artest hurt, it is, "Wait until Artest is back!"

Now we're crushed because Mutumbo isn't going to sign with us??!!

Maybe if the team on the floor actually played hard and well, we wouldn't keep looking for a savior elsewhere!

Mutumbo has sentimental value to most Rockets fans, thats why they want him back. I dont think anyone is saying Deke is going to be a game changer for us, he is more insurance than anything. He is no savior, just a shot blocker and rebounder to back up Yao.

I would rather Webster and Frye for Battier.

did you not follow rockets for the last two seasons? while Yao was out, Deke has provided us enough defense that in times were even better than Yao.

i know cuz i have him in my fantasy league for the pass two seasons. his shot blocks and rebounds per mins are crazy high in comparison with other big men.

Take a look at this years game when Yao was out for rest. we were out rebound and that we lost our defensive present. granted that we don't deke every game, but certain teams like the lakers have height advantage over us. deke is our answer to Yao's backup. who can we have for cheap and still produces like a starter in some NBA teams?

Did you not read my post? I said that he was insurance for Yao. Did you watch the Rockets last season? He only got any real minutes when Yao was injured, which would be what? You got it, insurance!

Are you seriously going to say the Houston Rockets is better with Deke than Yao?

Listen, when Yao went out last year after leading the team to it's first 12 wins out of 22, the next 10 games, they won on momentum, and energy.

But they were nothing special in the month before the Playoffs, and during the playoffs. And Deke was the center during this time.

Deke = effective defensively for short bursts. He is NOT the answer for a medium or more length of time.

I will be really disappointed if he signs with the Celtics. I always envisioned him winning a ring with us... and I miss him cheering on the sideline and keeping the bench in the game.

Honestly, I think that's part of the consistency problem this year is that he isn't there egging them all on.

I am probably overemphasizing his impact in the locker room and on the bench, but I just miss seeing him and his wagging finger.

Damn!! Hope that we can sign him, but would completely understand if he signed with the Celtics.

I mean come on, wouldn't you if yo were him?
