I say email the league office... that's what I did. here is a copy:

    Dear David Stern,

As an NBA fan I am becoming more and more demoralized about the state of the game. I'll live with the absurd display which is the allstar game, even though I would much rather enjoy the players going all out and playing stellar defense. However, the state of the officiating in NBA games right now is threatening to lose my support for the sport of basketball.

How can Joey Crawford issue a technical to Deke Motumbo because Dekembe smiled at him?!? This is in a close game... There is no way that an official should place himself above the game. He is there to facilitate the game, not object his will on the outcome. This is completely unacceptable to me and if there are no consequences taken against Joey Crawford I will take this as a sign that the regular season is turning into a farce. I will not support anything less than an objective competition between excellent teams. Joey Crawford should be fired.

    Thank you for your time,
    Brock Stapper

You can tell them how you feel here:

I say if our chinese friends use this same form to flood them about the officiating of yao and our team they will either have to get a huge bulk mail folder or listen up. **** Joey Crawford...

    Cheers,
    Brock

I remember years ago one line in a Hongkong movie cracked me up, it was like " I am going to kill that SOB because he wore the same color of dress as I do" That's the menatality some of the NBA refs have out there.

Glad you agreed with me on that. That was my perception at the time also, I was hoping I wasn't seeing things.

Now as far as the "possession" argument some are making... The refs are very picky about the timeout calls; they require full control of the ball and your feet to be on the floor. But when you go heave a ball somewhere in mid-air, they tend to reset the clock in those situations. As long as you direct the ball with force somewhere, the clock gets reset, the argument being you were in control enough to unleash it with great velocity. I like those rules. I don't think it should be great defense to throw the ball 100 feet straight up in the air to kill off the last few seconds of a shot clock for a person in Barry's situation.

get over it crawford will at most get suspended for a game, maybe 2 and be back. just expect the worse when it comes to the refs i say. i dont really mind the T on deke as much as the hanging on the rim which was neither called a T nor a goal tending.

I'm pretty sure that hanging on the rim is allowed by the rules if someone is below you.

Oh God no - can we do away with this "they tried to give to game to team X". That is already tired and lame. The refs never try to give away any game.

There is no need for those conspiracy theories. Like Will aptly stated, you still do your sincere best and still mess up in the referee/umpire business - the bigger issue here is Crawford abuse of power.

The odds? 100% apparently, 'cause that's what happened.

Hanging on the rim to avoid injury is allowed. But that usually happens after a player does a high flying dunk. The ball is dead when that happens. So the hanging doesn't affect the game. In Wade's case, his hanging on the rim did affect the game. It should be a goaltending call.

Think about this scenario. If a player is falling down and grab an opponent (who is in the act of shooting) to break the fall in order to avoid injury, don't you think it's still a foul even though the grabbing is intended for avoiding injury?

Watching the NYK-Boston game on LP (not sure why), but they just gave a tech to JYD, for pumping up the crowd after Walker got a T.

The commentators didn't know why and got an explanation that the NBA told the refs to give more techs if a player is pumping the crowed up.

I was looking right at Deke from 13 rows up and the smile he had on his face was more one of disbelief and bewilderment. He didn't look like he said anything. He just had this goofy looking grin on his face.

Like he always does. Wasn't any different than any other play this season. Crawford is just whacko. Next, he'll be giving out Ts because the player turns their back and walks away after the foul call. Somebody get him a job on The Sopranos.

This is the 1st time I've heard of a defensive player hanging on the rim to avoid landing on someone and hurting him. That sounds like you're hanging on the rim to avoid fouling someone!! ;)

wade could have let go and landed perfectly fine two feet on the floor. the rule to protect a player didn't apply there as there wasn't anyone in his way. they just chose not to make the correct call which is goaltending.

so no one finds shaq getting one of his fouls taken away weird? i think that's more of an issue then deke's bogus t.

Are we missing something here? I mean why should a defensive player even be hanging on the rim?
