I reckon the big men in the FA market are "overpaid" for a reason - namely that they aren't that easy to come by (ie - half the bigs drafted don't make it past their rookie contract).

I'd like to see us pursuing a C who provide a reliable 12-15' shot through free agency. Someone like Chris Mihm (mentioned already) may be an option at the minimum. Nick Fazekas will probably draw some attention from different teams - but he'd be better (although with Brand/ . Failing both of them, Nenad Krstic seems to have fallen out of favour with the Nets - but I'm certain they'd match a minimum offer.

solid: as far as I'm concerned, Deke is a better option than Loren Woods at backup C! At the minimum he doesn't hurt us at all.

Surely Woods is not the only option. Remember if Yao gets hurt again, which based on his history is likely, then the back up is the full time center. Deke can't fill that role, and like this year the Rocket's lack of size and athleticism is exposed.

Great news. Now the Rockets should float an offer out to Patrick O'Bryant and let Mutombo tutor him for a year.
