I have no idea what this has to do with anything I said.

Is this YOUR stance? Or just an observation about how social issues are being used to divide into left/right? The reason I ask is I'm curious if you've dug in your heals. No harm meant in the questions either. I get to that point myself sometimes where I say "F all these MF's. They are insane." But that sentiment usually fades fro me.

I don’t like it but that does seem to be where we are at.

What’s very troubling to me is that in the two biggest issues we’re dealing with right now I personally think both sides have failed even as we fight it out. Neither Left nor Right are willing to abide by social distancing and many out in the protests aren’t wearing masks.

In the wake of George Floyd the Right is arguing that systemic racism doesn’t exist and downplaying entrenched problems in LE culture. On the Left I think we are seeing a rush towards putting in solutions such as defund and disband without clearly thinking through or presenting what those exactly mean and the implications of them. I find when AOC says things like “It’s not up to activists to explain things.” Maybe not but as a political leader in a representative democracy that is job. A lot of this sounds like the flip side of the repeal ACA argument. We want to get something done and have a bunch of ideas but no clear plan. What matters though is that we get rid of this and then things will get better.

The thing though I am most troubled by the Left is failure to clearly and consistently speak out against the looting and the destruction. I know many here who I have debated this issue have said they don’t support and condemn that . Good, I’m glad to see that. I don’t think that’s universal. I know many people have cited last weeks John Oliver piece. He gives the last word to a woman who emotionally talks about how Blacks never own anything and so she doesn’t care about the looting and destruction and closes with wanting to “burn this whole b**** down!” It’s powerful and emotional but it’s wrong.. Several of the businesses destroyed in Minneapolis were owned by black people. When Trevor Noah talks about a broken social contract between LE and black people as justification he doesn’t mention the social contract for all the immigrant run businesses or businesses that employed immigrants. In my neighborhood those are the ones who are bearing the most costs of this and they have the least to do with a historical wrong. These are two influential media figures who have been cited repeatedly by many social media who essentially are justifying the destruction. I would put that down as failing on par with what we’ve seen come out of Right.

2 extremes, how about some well trained officers with restraint? A lot of good cops keeping us safe. It’s mostly these shitty police unions that Instil bad culture that need to go

I agree with this and speaking for Minneapolis a lot of problems would be solved with just not having Bob Kroll.

Of course it’s not my stance. The politicization of facemasks might be the height of stupidity in 2020. Just because it’s a left right issue doesn’t mean I think it should be. It’s dumb and the science it’s clear that you are kind of an idiot if you walk into Walmart right now and don’t wear one just to own the libs. But there are plenty that are doing that for that reason. I know plenty of them in my own family who post nonsense on Facebook comparing facemasks to the face coverings Nazis made Jews wear. No I’m not kidding... that’s how crazy people in my family are.

Communist economic structure for only government and religious entities would be dope. Neither should be built for excess profit. The government can deFUND the cops, while us regular folks cop the FUNDS.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/even-derek-chauvin-found-guilty-142117822.html

The 44-year-old Chauvin was charged with manslaughter, first-degree murder, and second-degree murder, but will be eligible for his pension, which is partially funded by taxpayer money, at age 50. If he elected to begin receiving the dole at 55, his annual pension would total roughly $50,000, according to CNN analysis.

Retire at 55 with a $50,000 a year guaranteed income? You can retire and start taking a pension at 50? These public workers man. This sh*t is why our local/state/federal governments are broke as hell. Someone works for 20/25/30 years and then has a guaranteed 50K income + other benefits for life to do jack sh*t? Hard to see how that math works for Joe taxpayer.

Oh man. These cartoons. Definitely voting for DJT! Can’t have humanoid donkeys wearing suits just calling all the shots.
Also this cartoon is a very deep cut and wouldn’t make sense to 90% of the electorate.

Also not sure why Branco is not supporting defunding the police movement since he is so limited government. I guess he’s big government for some things like police oppression.

Someone posted a link in another thread, I believe, showing this in CA, and just how bad it was...and yes, it WAS causing municipalities to go broke.

Even worse, though...committing manslaughter, first-degree murder, and second-degree murder doesn't preclude you from receiving taxpayer funded pension? ??? ??????? Keep in mind taxpayers would then also be paying for him to be incarcerated, as well.

Every other country in the world seems to be able to do police who dont think they are Judge Dread.

I dont understand how people can see how it works literally everywhere else and believe it is impossible for cops to operate with a softer touch.

More great police work. It's crazy how the rotten apples rotten the other apples at the drop of a hat.

You don't think he should have been arrested in the first place for taking a loudspeaker and screaming into a cop's ear- clearly trying to antagonize him?

Again, please stop wasting everyone's (and yours.. but you have a lot of it) time posting pointless videos and create your own little autonomous zone in a place you feel very safe. Texas has lots of open land and far leftists here are very rich. Show the world exactly how things should be done and live the life you deserve with no poverty, no conflict, no police and no whatever else you have the answers to. Looters can be given a diplomatic escort home to make sure nothing happens to them.

In the real world , this guy was fishing for trouble - and got exactly what he deserved. Any other country wouldn't have been nice enough to let it get that far.

Similarly, you're too afraid to speak about the events that led up to Floyd's death and why he was antagonizing cops , making life difficult for them, wasting everyone's time, because he didn't have a gun so he couldn't be a threat. Not only was he on drugs while committing a crime, he was difficult after it.

The cop acted with unnecessary force at the end, but you don't mention 99.9% of other incidents where it's done or nothing gets done.

In your own autonomous zone, you won't have to work , so you can sit around babying repeat violent criminal offenders all day. Show us how it's done. Walk the walk.

This is the problem with you, you try to invent your own facts. Why don't you move to Afghanistan and embrace a true conservative utopia. Stop trying to re-invent liberal democracy and just go be who you are where your fringe beliefs will be accepted without question.

The guy in the twitter video pointed his (loudspeaker? microphone?) in the direction he was walking. Not angling towards a police officer or anyone else in particular. Then, the cop closest to him attempted to impede his path at which point the guy attempted to also change direction. Then the police officer purposefully stopped and then the events that happened, happened.

From the video, the guy didn't scream directionally into a cop's ear nor was he trying to antagonize him, so I'm not sure what you're seeing.

Also, regarding the cop in Floyd's case? I bolded the part where I fixed it for you.

I think frontline workers who have to do physical dangerous work deserve to retire early and have pensions.

You don't see many 60 year old cops or firefighters - they can't do their jobs effectively after a certain age and they don't get danger pay. They put their lives on the line everyday for years and while I do think $50K is a bit high given they get social security as well, I don't think 55 is unreasonable.

o need to defund the police. I believe they will not or cannot enforce the laws so the next time when you or your loved ones need them, good luck with that. Who the hell would want to be a police officer now?
