Too bad, there should be another player added to this list.

    Shane Battier. He got robbed...twice

    Dream
    Deke
    Artest
Should be Battier... 3 of which on the same team :)

Why would you still want Motombo in this modern age when you have Yao that just create all types of problem for those that try to penetrate.

the Celtics stopped elite offense last year with the TRUth defense.
    pierce vs kobe mvp

the celtics didn't have a stinking scoring champ, neither did the spurs

This is a knock T-Mac thread, not a defense thread. Let's get back on track now. Get to it.

Having a defensive player of the year on your team is beneficial.
it brings confidence to your defense.

its similar to bringing in a player with championship experience.
for example the early Shaq/Kobe Lakers were a great team but they needed an extra player with championship experience. Enter Robert Horry, his two championship with the Rockets gives the team a calming presence in the face of pressure.

Having a Ron Artest or Deke on your team says to the other teams "no layups" or a finger wag.

And knowing that the HOUSTON ROCKETS won two NBA titles with a Defensive Player of the Year tells you that...

we don't need no stinking scoring champ!!

For the second time, I never meant we should use that defensive lineup I posted earlier in this thred. I was just pointing out that we have good defensive players at each position. I wasn't suggesting that we should actually play that group extended minutes. If it was ever used, it would be on a single possession basis where we needed a stop. I also clarified what I meant in an ensuing post.

People need to lighten up sometimes. I see nothing wrong with this thread. It's nothing more than giving props to some of the great defensive players that have come through Houston.

For the record, I like that lineup. That's our Cover two "we will protect this house" defense.

all I did was point out some facts and people act all crazy.

    I mean that's on Ron's resume and Deke's resume.

they don't have 'stanky scoring champ' on their resume, I wouldn't say that cause that's incorrect.

Let's say Dream shows up to a playoff game like he does now and then.

That means we have 3 players who have won defensive players of the year awards in the same place!

That's like having Hulk Hogan, Rick Flair and Triple H in the same place.
Three WWF/E world champions in the house!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    Dikembe brings back Hakeem memories

Top 2 shot blockers were Rockets when they passed Abdul-Jabbar

Rockets center Dikembe Mutombo has been on a tear of late, averaging 14.9 boards and over 2 blocks in less than 30 minutes a night over the last 7 games, a big reason the Rockets are 6-1 over that stretch.
Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy admitted before Wednesday night's that he was surprised by Dikembe's resurgence with Yao Ming out.

"You never know what's left in the tank," said Van Gundy. "When Yao went out, I had no idea how much gas he had left, mentally for the game and physically how long he could go. We asked him to play huge minutes and he has come up bigger than anyone could have expected."

But recent success aside, it was time to celebrate an amazing career accomplishment Wednesday, and it was only fitting that Mutombo passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the All-Time blocked shots list in a game that was both played in Houston and against Jabbar's former team.

When Mutombo stiffly rejected an Andrew Bynum dunk attempt in the Rockets 102-77 rout of the Lakers, it was the 3,190th block of his career, putting him ahead of Abdul-Jabbar for the No. 2 spot on the list, trailing only Rocket legend Hakeem Olajuwon (3,833).

It certainly brought back memories of Hakeem getting his 3,190th block, also at home. It's hard to believe it's been over 10 years, but on April 21st, 1996, Olajuwon blocked A.C. Green to set the record as fans and players -- including the Suns' Charles Barkley -- gave Dream a standing ovation (ironically, Barkley would be a Houston Rocket by the next regular season game, which came the following season).

I found an old clip on my hard drive from a highlight recap back then that showed the block. Thought I would pass it along.

tinman, the reason I said this thread is terrible is because you're always the one saying it doesn't matter what someone does in other uni's, right? That's always your mantra, but now its a history lesson or knowledge passing? If this is true, you don't think tracy can help wafer on the offensive end? What about helping brooks with passing angles? Got to keep it real bru

there's a difference by informing the fans of the resumes of our players vs posting the "NBA Classic: Detroit vs Orlando - Orlando losing "

I haven't posted any Ron Artest brawl videos.

This is thread is the same thing as saying Rick Adelman made it to the NBA Finals two times in Portland cause some fans only know him in his Kings days.

This is NOT the same as saying "If we had that Tmac in Orlando.."

I have no idea if Tmac helps his teammates improve. you should ask the Tmac fans.

    I know that..

tinman, anytime someone brings up former scoring champ, u go off. If someone brings up tracy locking down dirk, you'll say that was yrs ago. All I'm saying is one can't be information and the next he didn't do it in a rox uni.

I'm just mentioning that they belong to a certain fraternity in the NBA of DPOY.

Tracy belongs in the fraternity of scoring champions. He played great D on Dirk, but he was not consistent enough during that year on defense to win a DPOY award.

Mentioning someone's accomplishments and what that brings to the Rockets vs saying some player in Orlando was better than Kobe Bryant are two completely different things.

You know this, you've been on this board for along time too Z.

This is exactly like saying what Rick Adelman brings to the Rockets, playoff experience and success.
