He hasn't tried that one much. Although Dalembert is a shot blocker, he doesn't provide ball pressure or excellent pick and roll defense. A lineup of the following gives a more versatile defensive look: Lowry Dragic Lee Chandler Patterson. McHale sometimes opts for more balance by putting Bud in there and Jordan Hill for height. Scola just makes too many defensive mistakes. He has the tools to be adequate. He is just a afraid to be a goon. I think limiting his minutes will give him more energy to expend on defense. He is much better than earlier in the year though--the tape doesn't lie. He's a pro, so the coaches just need to point him in the right direction. Martin has given more effort on D which is an improvement from last year. The key is assigning him the right match ups.
I like the combination of Budinger and Parsons more, if you're going to have Lowry and Dragic both on the floor. Budinger is more capable of checking opposing SFs than Lee and is a better rebounder. He's played well on defense lately. Lowry, Dragic, Budinger, Parsons, Patterson That's a strong defensive lineup, if the other team is playing small. If more rim protection and rebounding is needed, then replace Parsons or Patterson with Dalembert.
I like that line up a lot. I like Lowry, Dragic, Lee, Chandler and Pat as well like someone else mentioned.
He is still young and learning...he will get better, to the point of being a double double type of contributor. Yes I am his fan club president.
