Hey, I'm sure the media lies and makes stuff up. On a regular basis. But I heard that exchange you mentioned on Sportscenter and the "that guy" you refer to was Victor Conte, the BALCO dude. And Barry said that Conte would never say something like that. Barry doesn't know what Conte said, and I don't either. But considering who Conte sold out to the media, and in the hearings, anything he said about Barry really wouldn't shock me.
i have no idea. but i know the sports media LOVES this story. it's regurgitated daily on sports radio and on tv even when there is no new information to report. i don't think that matches the peoples' interest in it...mostly because i think the people knew this crap was going on a long time ago. and they still bought tickets.
Barry had a great oppurtunity to mend some fences at this press confrence but ended up looking more smug then usual. I agree to some extent that the media blows things out of proprtion at times although IMO this is a big deal. When people years from now talk about Barry they will always be talk of records that are tainted. Barry cheated, why cant he come clean about it instaed of dancing around it? At least give me something like Giambi did, he at least said I`m sorry.....he couldnt say what he was sorry for, but it`s better the nothing.
