I got a ticket lo many years ago, it was right after the first of the year, and the officer put the previous year on the ticket by mistake. I went to court, sat through everything, and then when they called my name, I went up, they said, 'You can go.' I was all 'Huh?' The girls said 'Didn't you look at the ticket? It has a wrong date on it, so it's no good.' As I understand it, anything having to do with the ticket which a lawyer could challenge on, they just toss it anyway. My advice: Go ahead and go, but you will not have to end up paying anything. Maybe ask the clerk when you are there if you can have them confirm that you don't actually need to STAY, and maybe you get out way early.
