Switch everything with our bench units and small ball which is the main reason our defense is what it is right now. Drop coverage is ass and isnt really working.

Sorry top 10 defense with small ball(one of the top defense in the bubble as well) and a top 3 defense in the playoffs. There you go. That's even better.

No, you are dumb and you are the liar. Im just trying to educate you.

Dantoni and snake Morey really actually built an entire offense around Harden iso encouraging hero ball and selfishness. I get it that its an effective and efficient play, but it literally runs counter to every team oriented basketball philosophy ever conceived. It reinforced and turned Harden into the selfish prima dona that quit on his team in epic fashion.

i don't know why people say he doesn't think D. our 2018 D was very good. in 2019 when everyone actually got healthy, we were #2 in D after the all-star break. we just had a really good defense in the bubble despite playing small. his worst D in 8 years with harden and nash and some of the best offenses ever was #18, so basically average. others were better than that.

his fatal flaw is facing teams with 3 or 4 prime hall of famers with good to possibly GOAT coaches while his own team has 1 prime top 30 (harden) or 40 (nash) player. he was beaten in phoenix by duncan/manu/parker, literally all in their primes being coached by pop. his best player had like a 14/9 non-all star season before joining MDA and people are like "how did you lose, you loser coach? they only had tim duncan?!"

then here he gets a nice easy challenge of just facing a 73 win team that added kevin durant and had everyone saying they ruined the league because they were so unfairly talented. and he was still probably going to beat them if we just stay healthy. but he still gest the "how did you lose, you loser coach?! they only had 4 hall of famers and curbstomped everyone that wasn't you?!"

Gentry was literally Mike's assistant coach and used his system, not a good argument. Gentry left the Suns and never had that type of success ever again. LMAO they did not have the same success though. Mike made the WCF without his second best player on the Suns. LOL no he didnt. Mchale got his ass bounced in the first round every time except 2014-2015 where it took one of the biggest fluke shooting performances of all time to win game 6. He then flamed out and got fired because the Rockets were so bad. The Dantoni Rockets point differential was also better than pretty much all of Mchale's WCF run. And the ones that werent, well Mchale lost in the first round haha.

What Im arguing is that you are wrong and that Mchale cant hold Dantoni's jock and that your use of the word "pee wee" is asinine.

    Pretty sketchy logic.

He’s nearly 70. The oldest head coach in NBA history is Pop, currently 71.

If my research is right then the oldest person to ever be hired as a head coach was Beilein at 66 and he didn’t last long. Hiring 70 year old s to be the new head coach is pretty much non existent in NBA history.

There weren’t many HC vacancies at the time that it was announced he wasn’t returning either.

One thing's for sure is that our playstyle is much more difficult to stop because you can no longer key in on one guy. I've been saying all these years that we need to sacrifice efficiency for variety because in the Playoffs being so predictable is going to be our weakness, but got posters on here saying that I was wrong.

    Not yet anyway.

And the modern day NBA is based on MDA principles developed when he was with the Suns.

All the champions starting with GSW have won with the foundations of his offense. Pop even credits his last few championship teams to incorporating MDA elements.

    The hate is embarrassing.

I guess that's why he overwhelmingly won coach of the year that year?

I guess you must have voted for Eric Spoelstra who finished 2nd and shepherded the Heat to a 41 win season and the 9th seed.

You do realize that this argument completely undermines your stance.

Of the top 6 offenses of all time .....

3 belong to the Rockets under D'Antoni.

The greatest offense of all time is being run by D'Antoni's Nets THIS season.

Silas HAD that record for less than a season.

At least 4 other teams THIS season will break Silas' offensive record with the Mavs.

I don't think much of D'Antoni and his 7-man rotation, "keep-shooting-threes-you'll-eventually-make-them-OOPS!-guess-not" style, but I'd sing a different song if CP3 hadn't hurt his hammy.

McFail won 45, 54, 56 and 41 (technically, 4 before he was fired, but we'll give him JB's record) games with Harden

    Mike won 55, 65, 53 and 50 (techinically, 44 but would have been 50 in 82)

Imagine if you put McFail on those teams - they'd be....demonstrably worse?

Literally nobody on this board argues that McHale is a good coach because the Rockets improved so dramatically merely by kicking him and Dwight's asses to the curb and letting Danto & Harden be in charge.

Did you miss last playoffs when Rockets had the #1 Defense?

The defense looks very similar to current Rockets 2nd unit small ball switch everything.

The HOUnds are using the very same defense from the end of last season and the playoffs.

You really call yourself a Rockets fan?

You dont even understand the systems your own team plays.

Was Bzdelik back in Houston at end of last season and in the playoffs?

    I must of missed him.

Especially when he was coaching for the Pelicans.

Rockets defensive ranking in last season playoffs was higher than anytime Bzdelik was with the Rockets.

Rockets were ranked FIRST in defense last postseason.

    Take your L.

    Liar.

Turner was a hybrid defense advocate, that's why our defense was so bad before Capela trade.

After Capela trade it was MDA who reinstituted the switch everything defense after discussions with Morey and Harden.

You will see the entire team preaching defense and especially defensive communication before and after every game in the bubble and even just before the lockdown.

When both Harden and MDA are constantly emphasizing defense in post game interviews the knowledgeable and even casual fan understood how committed the team was to winning through defense.

Harden does not lead NBA in steals, total blocks for a guard and post defense efficiency without that commitment.
