Hmmmm, I read in the newspapers (Chinese) that Yao will miss 8 weeks because the broken bone was more serious that it was initally thought of. Any thoughts on the extended healing time?
I bet it ends up being about 3 months before he comes back. With that type of injury and Yao being such a big guy, the 6 weeks talk never seemed realistic to me.
Hurray !!!! All Chinese websites (sina.com, sohu.com, tom.com) had similar articles/news today from different reporters about Yao Ming returning to Toyota Centre for his rehabilitation training......... Looks like after all A Yao was not bullsh!tting !!!
Hey guy, don't be a stranger around here. Thanks for the early update. I find it very disturbing that websites based in China consistently have earlier information about a Houston Rockets player than our own local newspaper.
Well, there are quite a few stationed Chinese reporters in Houston for the various websites/newspapers/sports magazines, who do nothing but full coverage on Yao Ming. That's probably why sometimes they could get advance information from Yao Ming faster than other Western reporters. But for the above sina.com news, I'm not 100% sure about its genuineness, as in another news from Reuter, it said Yao Ming received an interview from KRIV-TV in Houston on Friday that he will have another test on his fractured right tibia next week to check on progress of his injured knee/leg, that he hopes for a better prognosis than the one doctors initially provided. But in this article, and another article on sohu.com, it was reported Yao Ming wnet to Toyota Centre on the 28th, and recieved a re-inpsection from doctors from Hermann Memorial Hospital already, and early results indicated that he is recuperating extremely well. Maybe that is what triggered him for requesting a much more detail check-up/test next week to see whether he can train more with the hope that he could return to play earlier than what had been diagnosed.....i.e. earlier than a mimum of 6 weeks of rest/healing ??
Sounds like Yao's healing is going well, but I hope he doesn't rush back. Making the All-Star Game should not be a priority at this point; getting ready for the remaining should. Also, thanks Pryuen and others for the translations and swift updates.
I still say we shouldn't have to depend on you (and now perhaps "a yao") to get this information on a timely basis. That said, you are well aware how much it's appreciated on the forum.
OH MY GOD, YOU ARE TOO GOOD!! Can't hide from you. I still host the radio show every Wednesday morning at 1180AM.
