http://sports.sohu.com/20070304/n248492799.shtml This is the latest from Zhang Yi of Sohu Sports, right after the humiliation by the San Antonio Spurs. Basically it just gave us the positive message: Yao Ming should be considered medically cleared to return to play !!! In Summary:- Dr. Tom Clanton was there in Toyota Centre, and right after Yao Ming's lone shootout practice, had a thorough medical check on him. When the press/media reporters surrounded Tom Clanton for Yao Ming's latest rehabilitation status, Tom Clanton said it was not convenient for him to say too much. But when further pressed, he said: "Yao Ming's progress has been great, and had reached every target we set for him. In fact, he had made further progress, and had reached or surpassed targets we set for him in every stage of the rehabilitation. We are closely monitoring his progress in his rehabilitation. If he can surpass his fitness tests during his training, then he can return to play anytime. Yeah.....he had made excellent progress." When the reporters fruther pressed for an answer whether Yao Ming will return to play in next game (versus Cleveland Cavaliers), Tom Clanton did not deny but said: "For this question, I think, I'll let Keith Jones answer it." But Keith Jones could not be found anywhere right after the game with San Antonio Spurs. So insteads, the press/media reporters further pressed Nelson Luis, Director of Media Relations of the Houston Rockets for a straight answer. Nelson Luis said: "We still cannot decide now. We have to wait for doctors' greenlight." The reporters then told Nelson Luis that Tom Clanton had deferred the decision to Keith Jones, and Nelson Luis just plainly said: "Well, I think, then it will have to be a consensus from both parties (i.e. Tom Clanton & Keith Jones." When the reporters further asked Neslon Luis whether Yao Ming will return on March 9 in Toyota Centre against the New Jersey Nets, Nelson Luis said: "Yao told you so ? Now we still don't have any concrete schedule of when Yao Ming will return." Anyway, it is confirmed that Yao Ming will travel with the team March 4 on their Eastern Conference road trip to Cleveland and Boston. Maybe he will return to court during this road trip. Maybe he will return to court in Toytoa Centre. Regardless of which outcome, the best outcome has to be that Yao Ming is healthy, and feels he is ready, then he will return. After all, the Rockets has a much loftier target for this season.
hahah those reports must get annoying.. so its still not 100% that he will return? ohwell, whatever is better for yao, as long as its soon!!! i would assume jvg would want him to practice (next prac tues right?) before he plays, at least big minutes?
Seem like Rockect is indeed of Yao now. Even Big Jake have a decent minute, it show how important a center to JVG strategy.. Hope to see Yao soon..
http://sports.sohu.com/20070304/n248493714.shtml Latest update: According to Zhang Yi of Sohu Sports reported, prior to departing for the East Coast road trip, a meeting will be held between Caroll Dawson, Jeff Van Gundy, Kieth Jones and Tom Clanton to decide on whether Yao Ming will be cleared to play.
The Rockets have many issues to address, but first they really could use a 7-6 center with a deft shooting touch, incredible work ethic and remarkable agility for 305 pounds of NBA center. Yao Ming will not solve many of the problems so evident on Saturday. For awhile, he probably won't play quite like Yao Ming. But he worked out for Rockets physician Tom Clanton on Saturday. Clanton, Carroll Dawson, Jeff Van Gundy and Keith Jones will get together today before the team leaves for Cleveland. For the first time, I'm guessing the meeting will end with a green light. Now remember, I'm guessing. And it really does not matter what anyone but Clanton says. But if he gives Yao the go-ahead (which is Yao's vote), Van Gundy will absolutely play him in the first game Yao is allowed. Cleveland on Monday looks like a pretty good bet. http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2007/03/a_bad_loss_but_a_bigger_win_at.html
Pleeeeeeeeease, read the rest of his article. Which portion of his article suggested that it is a straight translation from Jonathan Feigen's??
I don't what is your problem. But you sure have problem with Chinese reporters. You have been bashing them constantly. Zhang Yi and Feigen both are reporters and follow Rockets day in and day out. They had the same access to the same information. Of course they will report similar information to readers. For your information, Zhang Yi's reports alomst always come out way before Feigen's. And Zhang Yi has a much better personally relationship with Yao.
http://nba.sports.tom.com/2007-03-05/0424/84280753.html Wang Meng's article covering details of Yao Ming's lone practice 2 hours prior to that of San Antonio Spurs, and shortly prior to getting the medical clearance from Tom Clanton !!! No need to translate the full article, but just a few major points:-
espn says he is coming back from a broken foot http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2787899 Yao to return from broken foot on Monday Yao HOUSTON -- Yao Ming is expected to return for the Houston Rockets on Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 7-foot-6 center has been out since breaking his right leg on Dec. 23 and has missed the last 32 games. He was medically cleared to play by the Rockets' team doctors and moved to the active roster on Sunday. Prior to the injury, Yao was having the best season of his career, averaging 27 points and nine rebounds. He scored more than 30 points in four of the five games before his injury. The Rockets have struggled of late, losing three of their last four, including an embarrassing 97-74 loss to San Antonio on Saturday night.
This comic said: Welcome back the most powerful engine-propeller of the Rockets............... And at the corner of the comics, Lebron James sighed: This is a most unwelcome news !!
