According to JVG, Yao may return to play sooner than expected. Yao may return to play in about 2 weeks! http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/4552241.html If Rockets center Yao Ming is permitted to return to practices in 10 days to two weeks as he expects, coach Jeff Van Gundy said Yao might not have to wait another two weeks to get in games. "One thing I don't agree with is once you can practice, to me you can play because you're not going to get in shape until you get in (game) shape," Van Gundy said. "To me, once he's cleared to practice and for contact and all that, it shouldn't be that long. "It may be longer until he gets on the practice (court.) I'm not trying to rush him. Whatever the doctors say. But I've never agreed with the idea that you're going to play yourself into shape in practice." The Rockets have been estimating that Yao would play in mid to late March. But that includes practice time. "This whole idea of 10 days, if you're ready, you're ready," Van Gundy said. "The only way to get your game back is to play. You're not going to get it in practice. "Once you can practice, you can play. If you can practice full out, you can play full out. You might not be able to play as many minutes. Once he gets out there, we don't need to baby him."
This is from Wang Meng reported from Houston as dated February 12. So the workaholic Yao Ming pressed on...............
Found this on Wang Meng's blog. Don't bother about the first part of this blog, as Wang Meng was sort of complaining about having to work alone in USA on Valentine Day and Chinese New Year, and cannot be in China with his girl friend and family for the consecutive 3 years. But the later part of his blog, he mentioned about Yao Ming's latest status on his rehabilitation.
The following article is from Zhang Zheng of Sohu Sports, also based in Houston, dated Feburary 13 (Houston Local Time). So Yao Ming is getting better and better each day.
Yes, it is. Second-most viewed thread was the announcement that we got McGrady (it had 110,581 views).
Yao said he would return to court before March 10. read this on Chinese media http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2007-02-15/00182757208.shtml
It is currently ranked 21st, and is getting strength from strength. But of course, I don't want it to get anymore higher in the ranking, as I want Yao Ming to return soonest to court. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/forumdisplay.php?f=9&page=1&sort=views&order=desc&pp=20&daysprune=-1 The No. 1 most viewed thread ever is STILL the one I did this summer, the Official Thread on Yao Ming's Summer Activities 2006. A total of 138, 000+ viewership.
This reporter seemed to be "copycating" Wang Meng's article. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2747449&postcount=383 In Wang Meng's article, it also mentioned The March 10 target and That Yao Ming thought he now is back to 20 to 30% of his form and shape. He won't have the luxury to be rahabilitating back to 80% of his form and shape like in the summer to be able to return. He will have to return once he resumes 50 to 70% of his competitive form and shape.
Exclusive interview of Yao Ming from Sohu Sports on the latest situation/status of his rehabilitation. This interview was taken simultaneously with the one he did on which team is more fearsome for the Rockets: Phoenix Sun or Dallas Mavericks .
Thanks for all your update pryuen! I like this question and answer. Sohu Sports: So can we safely say that the bone in your leg has already completely healed ? Yao Ming: Well, according to the doctors, yes, it is already healed, but it will still take some time to stabilize. Our big man will be back soon! I will be excited to see how Yao can make the Rockets even better when he comes back.
hmmm... is this the same coach that wanted Bonzi to be able to run a marathon before he could play in a game?
If this has been posted, I apologize: Yao bracing for return Rockets center Yao Ming attended Thursday's shootaround, giving him, he said, another chance to get used to the knee brace he will wear on his right knee and to brush up on the Rockets' sets. "The knee is pretty heavy with the brace on there," Yao said. "I need to adjust to it, try to get back and relearn the game plan after missing eight weeks. "I think (the biggest obstactle) is conditioning" Yao has said he hoped to be cleared to practice by the end of the month and to play about 10 days later. He has been permitted to do "straight-ahead" conditioning and listed "shooting, post moves and learning on tape" as his current regimen. He has not been cleared for any side-to-side movement. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4558461.html
