My wishes for Yao when he returns: - He has learned a few more tricks from watching all the tapes on how to prevent losing the ball to the swarming players around him - He has developed arm and hand strengths further that when he grips the ball, it doesn't come loose easily - He has learned from Mutombo how to be aggressive and make people pay for even trying to get close to him (wanna kiss my elbow?) - He has learned to time his jump better on rebounding and blocks - His legs have the strengths/stamina to last throughout the playoff - He has developed consistent shots from 15 feet away - He has learned to not necessarily wrestle to get inside every play and will shoot from 15-feet if left open - to keep opponents guessing and to save his strength through 4th quarter Wouldn't that be monstrous for Yao and nice for Rox? What do you think?
when will Yao come back? first, I heard it would be the middle of March at least, then, a Chinese reporter says early March, Now, there's a saying that he would not be back until late March. I was aware that they said Yao needs 8 weeks to come out - not back on the court, so another 2 weeks needed, since the day he got injured, then the most like day is early Mar. damn, how bad this is. can't wait to see our two best player on the ground both. btw, even we had 3 losts in a row, it's not the end of the world. if Tracy can keep healthy, we don't have to be so worried.
Give me a think about the baskeball, stop being a son. I have see a word from your mouth about the basketball, then you need stop response me.
All depends on how the leg heals - he broke it in a bad place, as far as healing goes. He went down 12/23, putting the 8 week mark at 2/17 (All-Star Weekend). He's been downgraded from that by at least two weeks, apparently, and will have to put in at least a few days of practice if not a full week or more. Additionally, his conditioning is going to be shot by the time he returns. All in all, he's not very likely at all to be the same guy this season. We may need to wait until next year to see him at full strength again. Evan
I concur with this opinion about zong. When someone posts 12 times in 5 years, you listen. You also need to chill out with your theories about yao "taking it easy" on the rebounding and blocking. Yeah, Karl Malone went all those years missing only a game. And what does he have to show for that? And as far as you telling him to "give you a think about basketball", first you need to learn about the game and the fact that this is a physical sport. This isn't golf. This is not chess. This is not chinese checkers.
Yeah it makes sense. Go out there and make a impact by holding your knees on every possession, getting dunked on and just run to the bench flapping like a chicken when the other teams hassles for a rebound. Oh how important it is for Yao to stay on the floor. Yes it stuns me as well.
Yao Ming hosted a visit of some 19 high school kids from Houston sister city Shenzhen in the Toyota Centre yesterday morning. The kids were having a great time, having Yao Ming toured them in the Toyota Centre, alot of photographing and chatting with their idol, and they were also invited to watch the game of the Rockets versus Portland Trailblazer at night. Yao Ming told the kids (and the reporters) the following:- http://sports.sohu.com/20070127/n247871413.shtml http://sports.sohu.com/20070127/n247871718.shtml He might go to Las Vegas for the NBA All Stars Week-end. He has focused on the strength and conditioning on his right leg/knee for the last 2 weeks, and he felt that his leg/knee is responding well, and has grown stronger. He hoped he could start active rehab in 3 ~ 4 weeks time, as per doctor's advice. He has developed great comradeship and chemistry with Tracy McGrady, and it will be just be better and better, when he returns to court. During the tour of the Toyota Centre, he pointed to the 2 Championship flags hanged down from the roof, and told the kids/reporters, he genuinely thought the team will be serious championship contender, and he hoped he can bring back at least 1 more championship flag for the Rockets. On Rockets' current results, he thought the Rockets had been playing extremely well without him. He hoped his team mates could keep it up, build the tenacity and chemistry as a team, and he genuinely felt that his team will advance deep into the playoff this season.
Yao's catching footballs now? sweet. footballs are much harder to catch and handle than basketballs and require softer hands. the tennis ball thing was cool but not realistic enough for a game-time situation.
The texans having been looking for a lengthy WR to catch some of David Carr's errant passes...this is why he is catching footballs....he will be a two sport athlete in Houston and bring the first Super Bowl to the city of houston...
Thanks for the updates. Is he really shooting free throws sitting in a chair? Or is that just a poorly worded sentence? I can't imagine shooting free throws while in a chair is any help. It's totally different from normal circumstances where your whole body is involved in the motion. Not to mention the new arc, unless Yao sits on a tall bar stool or something.
Actually praticing shooting free throw in a tall bar stool that makes Yao about the same height as when he's standing, may not be a bad idea. He'll learn to shoot those free throws without using alot of the lower body (legs) and may help during late in the games when the legs are tired. Anyhow, I don't see Yao using much of his legs in the shooting action from his normal jump shot or turnaround jump shot, as he doesn't need much elevation to shoot over people. Once he gets full legs strength back , it should not take much to readjust to shooting from a high chair. I guess, we can build a special stable stool for him , so he can still practice his shooting
