I'd like to see you or the average 5'9 , 160 guy push up 90 lb DB's in the incline press. Not the same as doing 180 on a BBell. If you knew anything about lifting you would know the difference.

    Plus 225 on a BBell isn't combine test weight, it's 185.

QUOTE=bloop]the plates are all standard. . it's just rubber/urethane coated. yao is doing 225 lb bench. same weight they use at NBA combines to assess basic strength and endurance. yao can probably crank out at about 20, 22 presses... real strong guys can do reps in the 30s but yao's arms are long and we all know he has crap endurance... maybe pryuen knows how many he can do that would be interesting

note yao has no spotter, it's nowhere close to what he can max. but note the other pics yao is doing weaksauce weights. he's doing tris with 95lb, flies with 10 lb dumbells and about 180 on the dumbell bench. that's what an average 5'9" 160 dude would work out with so obviously yao is still taking it light with his workouts[/QUOTE]

Just read this piece of news from sina that Team Yao claimed that Yao will be back in china to continue his rebab there on Thursday! So Yao will not be around with the team when playoffs start?

Probably we need justcallmejoe or whatever his name is to confirm this! :D

Because Yao is so awesome that he can score AND block his own shot at the same time!

He may be back in June for "normal training" to get ready for the Olympics, not to play for the Rockets even if they happen to make it that far.

Chuck Norris is so awesome that when he makes a left sidekick, his foot travels around the globe and hits his own face on the right side.

I doubt Yao is even in much pain, the injury was caught VERY early and all they did was insert 3 screws into the bone...so he is probably feeling danged near 100% by now....even though it is not completely healed yet.

Well, Yao Ming's rehabilitation is not only confined to the strength and conditioning on his upper limbs in the gym of Toyota Centre, but also in the swimming pool at the backyard of his home.

Here are photos of him working out in the swimming pool together with his personal trainer, Anthony Falsone.

Lao Da, Steve Francis also came to visit him at home.

Not sure whether these photos belong to the same batch of photos that I posted the day before yesterday

But according to the other Chinese websites, these are photos taken April 2

Yao Ming went back to Toyota Centre for another session on his strength and conditioning before returning home for his work-out in the swimming pool.

It seemed Big Yao had started to apply force to his left foot as shown in some of the photos of his work-out.

yeah that's a typo. the NFL combines were a while back and specifically I was thinking of Vernon Golston and Jake Long (who's about yao's weight) doing 37 reps at 225. I wasn't even thinking about the NBA.

I haven't been 5'9" since I was about 15 years old so I'd have to lop off 5 inches from my feet or my head. I'm dont know why you think those weights are unrealistic tho. rule of thumb a normal not-particularly-athletic guy who works out should be able to do 1.5 x body weight on bench. for 160 lbs that's 245 on bench. 225 on incline and 85-90 lb dumbells is doing isn't extraordinary at all. I've helped guys get started in lifting who were average joes and after sticking with the program they all can work up to those benchmarks without supplements or anything. you cant cheat using dumbells like most guys do with a bar, including bouncing off your chest, using your back etc that's why guys think barbells are so much harder. I'm sure if he wanted pryuen could dig up pictures of yao doing that same exercise with 120lb+ weights... yao is taking it easy in that picture

Yao's pool looks kinda sad for a multimillionaire superstar. Looks like a pool my friend had when we were kids. Yao needs to bling it up, maybe a bar, diving board, hot chicks, jacquizzi
