At this point I'm not saying Floyd doesn't really need him, it would be great for the fans. It would be a classic mega fight, we haven't had one of those in quite some time. But, honestly, nobody else that Pac beats is going to do anything for him. If he beats Cotto again, big deal. If he beats Margocheato, who cares, that does nothing for his legacy. I would say him fighting and cleanly beating Marquez in a 3rd fight would do a lot more for him than any of these other opponents. Floyd has other options, that honestly would do more for his legacy if he chose to take on those challengers. Martinez and Williams. If he was to fight Martinez and beat him, he would, in my eyes, cement his greatness. Because I honestly think Martinez has a good chance of beating him. Williams...eh...I don't think Williams has as good of a chance.

But let's just say, Floyd fights and beats both of them. That would be 100x greater than him beating Pac. Pac isn't even a legit challenge like I said. It will be easy work for Floyd. You think Floyd gives a **** about legacy? If he did he would have taken Mosley's belt. It's money. And he could still make a load of money fighting Martinez or Williams.

If this fight does happen (and I'm sure it will) then awesome, it will be great for the sport and for the fans. but I just don't think it's the best fight out there for floyd in terms of competition. he will make more money with pac than any other... but, he doesn't need him for that, he can make money with others. Pac on the other hand, won't make close the same amount fighting others like he would with floyd.

BUT, because money talks.. Floyd and Manny will come to an agreement. Without a doubt this fight is going to happen. I don't think Manny cares as much about money as Arum does. Arum makes the decision, **** what anyone thinks..Arum wants his cash. It will happen.

This is a must for Floyd also and I feel he too also HAS to fight Manny. This is the fight everyone wants. P. Will and Sergio may offer bigger challenges but those aren't the fights the people want to see. So in a way, those fights are a step down also. Those guys aren't necessarily big draws either.

Honestly, I don't even see Floyd taking a fight with P. Will and I doubt he wants to fight a slick southpaw in Sergio Martinez.

I personally don't care what the people want to see. I want Floyd to be challenged. To go from Mosley, who challenged him pretty well the first 2 rounds then just gave up....to Pac who will probably get dominated in a worse fashion...just doesn't make sense. This is me speaking as a boxing fan, not a Floyd fan. I want to see the best matchups...not the ones that are going to make the most money. What's good for business, isn't always what is good for fans.

After Floyd dominates Pac, everyone is going to just make excuses anyway. They will say how Pac was too small all along, and how he doesn't have the skill to compete with someone like Floyd. Or how the testing drained his strength and energy. Hardly anyone is going to give Floyd credit. When Floyd fights, people pay because they want to see him LOSE. So his best chance of losing is against someone who can challenge his skills. Pac will not challenge him in any fashion. We already saw that Floyd was smart enough to not go down from 2 monster right hands from Mosley, who is a harder puncher than Manny. So, the whole thing about Pac winning if he catches Floyd with a clean punch is a gigantic IF.

How is this not a good matchup? Its very rare that two of the best fighters in the world, not just in their division, who are in their prime, have a chance to put on a show. Styles make fights. You can't compare Mosley fighting Floyd to Manny fighting Floyd. Floyd never fought a fighter like Manny. Against Mosley, Floyd was actually the one coming forward and initiated the offense. He's not going to win like that against Manny. If Floyd gets caught, Manny won't let him off easy. I think it's a toss up. And if Floyd shouts out Manny, that too would be interesting to see. I'm excited to see how Floyd deals with the pressure and volume punching from Manny.

I also disagree with Floyd not getting credit if he dominates Manny. First off, Floyd is the favorite. Also, this isn't a 39 year old Pac or Pac's first fight at welter since coming from 130. Hes one of the best right now, in his prime. Not only will he get credit for actually taking the fight, but a dominating win will make all his doubters give him his props. Most people aren't even picking Manny to win. Even the Pac fans, including "pactards", just want the fight to happen more than anything. But it can go both ways. If Manny wins, people will say he juiced in the 14 day period.

Floyd retires before fighting Williams or Martinez. Low reward, very high risk. You talk about fights for the fans, but Floyd doesn't fight for the fans. He's all business. Paul or Sergio aren't big enough names to get in the ring with Floyd.

Can somebody justify how Floyd suddenly gets the right to demand more when Pacquiao already agreed to the 14 day cut-off? If he'd just say yes we'd be done already.

Actually the 14 day cut off was back in January...Pac didn't go for it... then right before the Mosley fight, it was offered again..Pac said no... he b****ed out twice. After the Mosley fight, he said ok to the 14 day cutoff...Floyd said no, too late now it's random testing all the way up to the fight or no go.

Pac waits a couple months and finally says ok to random testing BUT..he says 50/50 money split... Floyd's initial deals were all 60/40... so you can't say ok when you want...then say ok to part of the deal then switch it again. So who is really the "scared" one?

Look, you're not answering the question. What changed after his battle with Mosley that he now deserves to ask for more when he was alright with a 14-day cut-off before?

Fans should be harping on him about it.

And a 60/40 in favor of either fighter is BS.

I would be ok with 60/40 for the winner... 50/50 is ok. He isn't even asking for more..the very first deal was random testing up until the fight. Pac was being a b**** about it at first... he said no... so mayweathe said ok..23 days I think...Pac still said no...so then he said 14 days in january...and so on...

Mayweather isn't asking for anything more than what he has already asked for before. He has given Pac plenty of chances to accept.

Neither one of them will fight Devon. Casual fans don't know who he is.

Ahhh... now I see; but I still think Mayweather's at fault here. If you already consented to a 14-day compromise before, the only reason you'd go back to your original stipulations would be because of your ego. So much for his crusade against PEDs...

I know that. Devon is a beast anyways. Same as Lara is at 54 and Benavides rounds out at 35. Peterson could see 40 depending on what happens coming up. I just threw names of some guys I like seeing fight hoping that the casual fan looking at this thread googles or youtubes their name.

Actually I believe Team Pac's last offer was 24 days, and then Floyd countered with 14 days. What most people are wondering is why was 14 days completely OK back then, but now its a ridiculous offer? The only reasoning I've heard was that "its the old offer". Really? Thats the only problem? I think its pretty weak excuse considering the magnitude of the fight.

Why didn't Manny accept the offer the first time? They both have huge egos and Manny didn't want to comprimise to Floyd. My theory is that after his Clottey fight and Floyd's fight with Shane, coupled with his run in politics, he saw the urgency of getting the fight made. Could be his last so he wanted to give the fans what they wanted and here we are. Seems like he wanted to call Floyd's bluff by agreeing the to last demands they talked about.

Well why would Pac reject any of those offers to begin with? You can give an excuse for Pac by saying that he wanted to hurry up and make the fight because of his political career, but I'm sure it was something he had already been planning for a while. So it's not like the idea to become a politician just popped into his head over night. He had the chances to make the fight back in January.

The fight will be made, but I just don't even care anymore. By now, so many people are annoyed and pissed at both camps and promotional companies that people probably have lost all interest. This whole fiasco is terrible for our sport.

Hell I'm already tired of hitting the reply button in this thread
