Not that I don't agree with the bombing but I find that hard to believe. The Bomb not only changed Japan. It changed the course of Human history. http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&...=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1139&bih=703
Yeah, I know about the after effects of the bomb. But a full scale invasion and occupation of a country would pretty much trump that. Japan, as we know it, might not even exist today. You will never, ever be able to convince me that it was the wrong thing to do based on the amount of lives that would have been lost otherwise, AND the damage that would have been done to the western U.S. after Japan deployed their new toys they were developing.

Unless I missed something, and Saddam Hussein is hanging out in a stolen palace in Kuwait City, we won the first Iraq War. The books aren't closed yet, but we might have won the second Iraq War, too.
Why don't you start a separate thread about the two atomic attacks on Japan late in World War II if the issue is so important to you. Quit polluting a thread about December 7th, when Japan launched a ruthless, surprise attack on the territory of this country, caused thousands of caualties, sank a large part of the Pacific Fleet, did it while conducting "peace talks to avoid a conflict" in Washington, and brought the United States into the war. Ignorant? That would describe you for crapping on this thread.
slandballa was out of line to throw a political bomb (pun intended) into a thread intended to remember the sacrifices our fathers and grandfathers made for us. I am no fan of war, but this is not what this thread is for. Would it be possible to move the derail to another thread?
But the comparison is fallacious and misleading. This wasn't an artillery exercise that killed a few Americans. Japan was attempting to build an empire in the Pacific, subjugating, killing and raping their neighbors and expropriating their resources. Instead of comparing US civilian deaths to Japanese civilian deaths, compare the damage to Japan to the damage caused by Japan.
I wouldn't try to. What I would like people to do is remember the price that was paid because of it. The weapon that should have never been. It's UnGodly and I pray we never see that motha****er in my nor in 5 generations from now.
Had family that didn't survive the bombs so I deligently researched the subject as much as one could, being a kid/teen and all. Even as a half Japanese/American teen I understood the why's of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I don't understand why you can't. And really, your response is terribly old, like by 40 years. Quit b****ing.
Bravo. +1 I woke up this morning, hung my American flag outside, came on here, and promptly got furious. Ridiculous people in this thread.
Good riddance. And one final note; this isn't a "WE'RE #1" holiday. This is about remembrance. Now stfu and gtfo.
