-On a different note from my 1st post in this thread I always wondered what we could pry away from Phoenix if we provided them with some depth, smaller salaries, and took Marcus Banks' salary off their hands. We do have players suited for that team such as; Snyder, Head, Brooks (who they wanted), James, and possibly even Alston (who would be an excellent backup to Nash but the contract) or Novak. We would be required to take Banks (4mil and climbing), then have an outside shot at Atlanta's (now PHX) unprotected draft pick or Boris Diaw (9mil). The only appeal of Diaw is that he would be perfection from the HP. He shoots and passes. But we still don't address PG. At least not in this scenario. That draft pick is the money at the end of the rainbow. Oh and definitely kiss Brooks goodbye in a PHX deal. Brooks, Head, Snyder, 2nd RD for Banks + ATL pick And anytime you see me making trade proposals out of nowhere it means I am bored and probably pre-6am. No sleep. Anyways
To be honest i dont see any changes. i think the coaching staff are content with the current group. however if we were to make a deal, i could see a mike james + luther head for a backup C/PF. i wouldnt mind a deal for someone who can come in and give yao some minutes. deke looks done now.
Head should be going to the NBDL - but maybe somebody would give us a draft pick for him. Somebody dumb like Isiah Thomas-though give Isiah credit- he can pick talent
Bonzi and Battier play minutes at the 4. If Scola wants those extra minutes from Hayes he's going to have win the starting position.
I wouldn't trade Brooks alone for Banks. And Head,Snyder and a 2nd RD for the ATL pick don't make up for giving up Brooks for Banks.
I think if we trade, then we trade some scrubs and get some scrubs in return that play another position. Nothing major will happen too soon (and that includes Battier, Brooks, James, Francis, Bonzi). We might get rid of Snyder, Head or Novak, and get a below average big man in return. I´d like to have either a quality pg (which we won`t get unless we give up major pieces), or a big 2 guard, perhaps someone like Childress. Backup centers are mostly either crap or hard to come by. I´d stick with Scola and some minutes for Deke.
eitherway it's going to be interesting to see what kind of changes we are going to make. i am not buying this whole fight each other for minutes idea. I am pretty confident james and francis are to stay. as fans it easy to start moving people around. but politics wise, we are not going to move francis 2 months after he signed here. james also, even though he didn't choose us in the beginning we had to pretty interested to bring him back here. the question is what they will do with Alston, Head, Synder and Novak. Brooks and Laundry are probably keepers too.
Imo we're gonna stand pat for awhile to see how things work out. I wouldn't get rid of anyone in the rotation except for maybe Hayes. I wouldn't even let Rafer go at this point unless we brought in another PG or PF. It's a bit early to let Rafer hit the road for the fact we're not really sure if Steve can handle the point all season injury free. We all know that James is not the answer for the starting PG, but makes a nice scoring guard off the bench. As much as Rick likes Brooks and as much potential he has I wouldn't let him go either. Steve, James and Brooks could handle the PG duties, but want we've seen from Rick and Alston, Rick likes Alston and Alston might not be able to hit any buckets most night but seems pretty solid as a back up. A tall athletic PF that can make some shots that would be nice. Luther makes mismatches against us most nights because of his size. These are the type of guys Bonzi would eat up and spit out. But I could see other teams wanting a Head, or Kirk or Landry. These guys I'd give for some draft picks or something. Hayes and Rafer maybe for the right price, but I'm pretty comfortable with our team, as long as we can hit some buckets. Trades sound nice but will our scrubs for somebody else's really help? Maybe. But I don't expect to see anything major.
I think a trade that helped us in the 04-05 season was the Tyron Lue for Jon Barry. We traded a small guard for taller a shooter. I'm lookin for that type of trade where it helps the team dramatically and I also think we might have to let go of Snyder or even hayes for an athletic big man.
barry was a big addition. helped us out big from the 3pt line. if wesley did help that year but then he just dropped off dramatically.
CHANGES are definitely needed..people are expecting another 1st round exit..we better get to the playoffs first!
tellu what, you gonna see another f**ked up trade(s) if there really would be some after 12/15. If RA wasn't get fired yet, he will try to trade some crabs to make it an excuse for the bad perfromance. This will ruin the good team we already had. God bless hope the franchise dont trade battier, alston and stevie frascis.
