    Manny, sorry to disappoint. :(

    It was up there, but couldn't quite crack the top 100. In my defense, I've purchased over 500 albums from the decade and there's only a handful I regret buying, so it's extremely difficult to fit everything I liked into just the top 100.

    Ah, it's cool - glad you responded. Do you know if that album made Pitchfork's top 100?

    Not sure, but I'm guessing "yes."

    I'm trying to right up a little blurb for each album and post it on a blog or something, but I don't know if I'll ever get around to it.

    I'm not claiming any of these albums were the BEST (although one could make the argument), but these 10 have the most meaning for me (in no particular order):

    • Elliott Smith - Figure 8
    • Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
    • OutKast - Stankonia
    • Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
    • Phoenix - Alphabetical
    • Walkmen - Bows + Arrows
    • Jay-z - Blueprint
    • Radiohead - In Rainbows
    • Madvillain - Madvillainy
    • Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
    Honorable Mention: Radiohead - Kid A; Brian Wilson - Smile; the Bad Plus - These Are the Vistas; Arcade Fire - Funeral;

    I disagree. I like Feels a lot, but Sung Tongs is just too experimental/avant-garde for my taste, but I know a lot of people agree with you.

    For those asking whether you are "missing" something, it could be it's just simply not your taste. For instance, I have that same problem with the Fleet Foxes. :eek: :p

    As far as MPP goes, to me the album is all about the surreal, dream-like atmospheres they create which buildup to the moments in the song where everything is released into what I can best describe as an electronic carnival with freewheeling Beach Boys Smile-like Melodies. I feel like it's a pretty unique combination of music and melody (but if you can name other bands that do the same thing better, I'm all ears :) ). I suspect a lot of people who don't like it just kind of get bored waiting for the "crescendos" to come. But the problem is without the buildup the crescendos would be no where near as effective. Anyway, that's about as general of an explanation I can give for liking the album.
