Ah, in the modern era it's so hard to pontificate on trades. People focus on who they want - and cap considerations, long-term considerations and most importantly the other team's wants and considerations go out the window. Fans always think that trading is just about finding two players of equal value. It's like trying to solve a puzzle while negotiating with someone across the table at the same time. Silly suggestions are silly.
I tend to agree with this. Tillman tweeted recently that if he was in paying the tax for a team that wasn't a real contender he had the wrong GM. As currently constructed they are 10,009,000. over the cap costing about $16m in taxes. Basically they either shed Knight or EG along with the corpse that is Melo's contract and some combination of Chriss / MCW / Zhou Chi to get out of the tax. What it costs them and what the return is depends upon which it is (EG / BK) and if the trade partner is a contender looking for help in the playoffs or not. Just the wrong 2 …
Morey is trying to get a trade(s) done by Dec. 7 and also a separate, smaller deal done on or near the 15th. Some of the players we could possibly obtain with Melo's contract (and maybe another smaller contract)..... Beasley Seth Curry Yogi Ferrell Satoransky 2nd round pick and $2.4 million TPE (in conjunction with another deal on Dec. 7) Skal Ellenson Ron Baker
I've been trying to think of ways to improve the team based on what we have and our salary constraints. The reality is that we can't improve our guard rotation, we have a franchise starting center, and Ennis + Tucker are good fits at forward on this team. In order, here are what I think our priorities are: 1) Upgrade at SF 2) 4th quality guard 3) Upgrade at backup center Here's what I've come up with: Miami In: Melo, 3 1st round picks Sacramento: Nene, Chriss, 2 2nd round picks. Houston In: Josh Richardson Houston gets an up-and-coming 2/3 combo guard/forward...similar in size to Butler but with a more complimentary game. Miami - Melo was supposedly picking between Houston and Miami, so I think they could be the most likely team to have interest in him. Our offer for Butler was 2 1sts + Gordon...this would be 3 1st round picks with no Gordon...in other words, a comparable offer. Not sure Miami would take it since they supposedly took Richardson out of the Butler deal, but who knows now. This trade also drops Miami completely out of the luxury tax (currently $6 million over). Sacramento gets 2 2nd round picks for letting us use $7 million of their $11 million in space for this year and $4 million in space next year (Nene).
I think Miami is much more likely to deal Winslow, attached to one of those big 3-year contracts they have. (Kelly, Johnson, Dion) Personally, I'd be interested in a Knight + for Kelly/Justice combo...
Yeah, they would be crazy to trade Richardson now, not that he's a star or anything close to that but, at this point he's clearly their best player, and with that contract he should be one of the two guys (with Bam) i expect them to keep and build around. Winslow on the other end didn't exactly start the season well, pretty disappointing in fact. I wonder if they regret giving him that extension, not that it's bad or anything, but still...i would've loved to get him without that extension signed, but maybe that will kinda lower his value a bit... A package like Winslow and James Johnson is probably something we would be very interest in...a young starting 3 with upside on basically every aspect, and a 4/5 who can guard multiple positions, create a bit, pass...assuming he's finally healty of course, i like him but that contract isn't exactly great tbh, and he's starting to get old.
(I think Mike D'Antoni would LOVE Kelly Olynyk too, because he is so damn smart and can really shoot it...)
I'm not really buying what you're selling, BUT kudos on the appearance of your post! I'm a sucker for symmetry/esthetics! ... ....... ....... .......
I do not hate Tillman. I am simply making an objective factual observation about his limited financial means as a lower class, deeplt indebted, billionaire
These Wolves commentators are great, acting like Wiggins is breaking out cause he's playing solid D lmfao
I've liked Olynyk since the draft …. He's not the high flyer Capela is in the middle but he's crafty and can finish around the rim and … can shoot the hell outa the ball.
