If you shoot it with a pellet gun, it will eventually die sure. However, if you don't want to watch the thing jump around in agony while you pump up another pellet, you should probably get something with a little more umph. As soon as you hit it with said pellet, unless it's a head shot, it will probably start running away anyhow. Now if your pellet gun is the CO2 kind, then you could fire round after round and do some serious damage. Walmart anyone?
Armadillos are not legally protected. A pump up pellet gun should work with a head shot. Do not handle the carcass. Armadillos can carry leprosy. No joke. Rookie
I don't think they ALL have leprosy. I think they can be a carrier. Just like most bats do not have rabies, not all armadillos are infected with leprosy.
My dad had been trying to catch armadillos for months with no luck until a guy he knows told him what armadillos are attracted to. Green apple jolly ranchers. No joke. He's caught three armadillos in the last two weeks.
This is some old school video game reference, isn't it? Legend of Zelda? I'm trying to remember but it escapes me.
We were camping one time when one of the guys I was with decided he wanted to catch an armadillo. So he was chasing one in our camp, and the armadillo ran straight up a tarp covering a tent and jumped, disappearing into the night sky.
Are you serious? So he put them in the trap? I have tried worms in a sock, heck everything..... I will now try...Green jolly ranchers. DD
I couldn't believe it either when he first told me, but he swears by it. Also, supposedly once you catch one it gets easier to catch others because they follow the scent of the first "victim".
Just called dad to verify and he was told to use the green apple ones, but he said that he just throws a handful of different flavors into the trap and they eat um up! Happy hunting!
