No, a simpleton would advocate doing away with a system because it's not perfect. No system is perfect, most intelligent people realize that. Taking someone's life away by locking them up for the entirety of their natural life is no better than executing them. In many ways, locking someone up forever is more cruel and unusual.

I know, blows your mind. It's okay.

I think there's a lot going on here.

The racist quote shows that there might have been bias by at least one member of the jury.

The fact that the defendant didn't get proper representation and that he was mentally ill is troubling. Doesn't mean he is innocent of the crime, but our justice system is suppose to not let these things happen. Everyone should get a fair trial, solid representation, and their mental health taken into consideration. That is fundamental to justice not just for this man for every citizen.

Then there is Exiled's obvious point. Some say he is trying to justify barbaric atrocities against homosexuals. I honestly don't know what he is trying to do because it is hard to understand his English and I tend to skip his threads/posts.

But I do think it's very possible that he is not trying to justify or excuse such things, but rather call out the hypocrisy that somehow that we live in this perfect civilized society where such things never happen. They do happen here, and they happen all over the world. That doesn't justify anything, it just says don't get on your high horse too quickly when your own house isn't perfect either.

Oh I think that's exactly what he's trying to do, it's just that he's not smart enough to be able to pull it off with an actual example of hypocrisy or wrongdoing in the legal system. Obviously those examples exist, this just isn't one of them.

How do you rectify a false conviction for a person locked up in prison? You release them and pay them a certain amount for the amount of time spent in prison as an innocent man.

How do you rectify a false conviction for someone who is dead?

Obviously there is a somewhat system in place that kind of rectifies this and that is called the appeals process which is why death row inmates can wait up to 20 years before they are executed but then you realize you are spending more money keeping them in limbo. It's just a wasteful, stupid system.

There is NO EQUIVALENT EXAMPLE in the US to warrant an argument that we are being hypocritical when we criticize Saudi.

The United States doesn't execute adulterers
The United States doesn't execute blasphemers aka people who speak freely
THe United States doesn't execute ex-Christians for being ex-Christian.
The United States doesn't hold 5 year old children in death row.
The United States doesn't convict rape victims because they were not with their male handlers at the time of the rape.

so basically you are attempting to show cases and ignore final result , you learned from your master ATW
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-35166951

the case was overruled after an appeal , she was the one who went i said: listen , i am a Muslim married women who had sex with that guy..., but again the judiciary system acts on principle , not actual punishment that made in first place to deter from those offenses
again , all he had to do is to say " i wast serious ", no further action would take place
again it was special court for Shies minority, despite that it was overruled.

finally do you care to know if Kenneth Fults would be executed in Saudis?

most likely "NO" , he was mentally challenged

I understand the process I just don't agree with a death penalty that is 20 years down the road. If the death penalty is going to be an effective deterrent to crime I believe that it should be swift or it should be gone. What we have today is a waste of time and money and is not a deterrent in any way.

The written affidavit by a juror in which he included a racial slur and a declaration that he knew how he'd vote before hearing evidence is very problematic. The other stuff may just be lawyer embellishment, but I don't see how you get past this.

It wasn't under a "meh" trial and no one is suggesting that the guy was innocent. The guy was convicted by a jury of his peers and exhausted numerous appeals, none of which saw any reason to overturn the sentence. Pick a better case to try and further your laughable narrative.

It is a waste of time and money.

No one can be absolutely sure if the person's guilt so 20 years is a decent chunk of time to solidly nail false/underreported evidence, testimonies or scientific breakthroughs.

There are other factors that come into play like money, such as playing off an affluenza defence or pleading down to a lesser deadly charge or arraignment, or the fact that after conviction, the burden of proof is on the convict for innocence in getting an acquittal which makes it more costly and lengthy for a skilled defense to even begin.

As usual you are incapable of understanding. Not sure where I advocated doing away with the criminal justice system, just doing away with the death penalty. You brought up lifetime sentences just to deflect.

Sorry, I forgot to spell that out for you in crayon but if you don't do away with the criminal justice system AND you do away with the death penalty, that means that people will be doing life and the system will still not be perfect so it's not much different than if you give them a death sentence.

I try to make things as infantry-proof as possible, but I clearly didn't break that down quite Barney style so it's my fault you didn't follow along.

Oh Oh... We have a "I'm above average intelligence because I didn't choose infantry even though pretty much all enlisted professions could be performed by a high school grad with Algebra as their highest understanding of math" veteran.

For his comparison point, it's not a good example I agree. As for him not being smart enough - do you always have to condescend to people so much?

Even if it's Bobby, he was referring to Exiled here who continuously is asking for it. There are very few instances where Bobby is in a position to warrant being condescending. This is one of those few instances.
