Those companies cannot fine or imprison you for not following the Liberal health / lifestyle mandates. Would you rather have the phone company or the government listening to your phone calls? Would you like the government to be your ISP too?

Well put and I agree. I am very leery of the idea of government running health care but at the same time the current situation is unsustainable. Thankfully though the health care bill as its shaping up isn't going to be government running healthcare. There might be a public option but even that might not be in the final bill.

What we can't do though is let the status quo continue where insurance gets more unaffordable, more people go uninsured while health costs continue to skyrocket.

Why all the shock/laughter at this? I thought she did really well.

I'm not defending her position, but she answered the questions clearly and honestly and her answers weren't stupid at all.

There are a ton of people like her in America that are just starting to pay attention to politics (on all sides of the political spectrum). Many of them don't have the depth or breadth of knowledge of someone who has paid attention for years or studied thoroughly recently. And while I think one should educate oneself more on the issues before voicing the outrage she voiced, I think it's important to understand and engage folks like this rather than mock them.

I commend her for going on the show and doing a pretty good job and I hope she tones down the anger and continues to educate herself on the subjects she is passionate about.

Can you show me the provisions in the bill where it says they will imprison you if you don't follow their lifestyle mandates? For that matter where are the lifestyle mandates?

FYI the government can already listen to your phone calls. Its called a warrant to wiretap.

Didn't the Bush/Cheney Admin use the Patriot Act to spy on Americans. . . .

    Oh well.
QUESTION: Why is it better that profit driven folx to listen to your convos. . than politicians/government?

You better hope the public option is in the final bill, because that is the only realistic cost control mechanism being proposed.

That would be impossible since they aren't there.

I don't blame her for getting out and saying her piece and as I noted in another thread I'm for vociferous and loud dissent. That said she did come off as fairly uninformed with positions that weren't well thought out.

I also thought the question about why this got her involved in politics now was very telling about her mindset. If she was concerned about the dismantling of the freedoms of this country where has she been the last 8 years? Things like unwarranted surveillance and indefinate detention without trial are far more direct threats to the US Constitution than having a public healthcare option.

Whether I hope for it or not it may or not even be in the bill so all of the hyperbole about "government taking over healthcare" is overblown at best and may not even be warranted.

There better be a public option in the final bill or this whole exercise will have been for nothing.

In her defense, if her ideology and political leanings were in-line with those of the past administration, it's quite possible her personal freedom was not at all being affected.

Only if she feels that Constitutional protections are relative to which ideology is in control.

It increases her range of choices, which is bad because increased choice is NaziHitler.

Exactly. It's faux outrage; hypocritical to the core.
