Lawrence O'Donnell interviews one of the most vocal protesters from Arlen Specter's town hall. If all of the protesters are as completely uninformed and vacuous as this woman, I do not understand how the protest movement even exists: <div><iframe height="339" width="425" src="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22425001/vp/32393616#32393616" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe><p style="font-size:11px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #999; margin-top: 5px; background: transparent; text-align: center; width: 425px;">Visit msnbc.com for <a style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;" href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com">Breaking News</a>, <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032507" style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;">World News</a>, and <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032072" style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;">News about the Economy</a></p></div>
Arlen has already come out after this fiasco and said that, after patiently listening to these wackos (which would take the patients of god) that in his mind, they do not reflect mainstream America.
The thing that I notice about this debate is that the people who are resisting the change are trotting out all the things that could happen to the exclusion of the things that are in the bill. Are the cornerstones of this bill really being debated? Does anyone believe that the Congress should not regulate the insurance industry to keep them from discriminating against people with preexisting conditions? Does anyone believe that we should not regulate the insurance industry so that they cannot cap lifetime benefits? Does anyone dispute that we should take action to make sure that all of our citizens deserve a basic level of health care? Does anyone truly disagree with the idea of health exchanges and co-ops to give the public more choices? These are the main things that are in the bills that are floating around. The public option has not even been discussed in the Senate, at least not seriously from what I have read. Is there any criticism of what is actually in the bills rather than some weird interpretation of how the provisions in the bill will cause something else to happen in the future?
True, but I'm pretty sure Specter (<s>RINO</s> DINO-PA) holds up a finger to the wind at any given moment to determine what represents the American mainstream. You mean he didn't agree with the guy that told him God would one day stand before Specter and "judge" him and the "rest of his d--- cronies" on Capitol Hill? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rytLJWaJff8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rytLJWaJff8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> (Please note the selfsame moron standing precariously on her chair to self-videotape what was being simulcast in HD on all three national cable news networks.)
I gotta tell ya, without the perfect right angles, it just looks like the weapon from Krull or the monster from Yar's revenge.
No, she is too busy taking on the phone to listen to the public. But hopefully on day civil servants such as this will control your health care along with your private information, and manage your lifestyle. But you will be dammed if they listen to your phone calls, ala wiretapping, right? Because that type of government intrusion is outrageous... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gFC4mfPMF-0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gFC4mfPMF-0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
^^^ Thas excellent! Can someone explain to me how having a public option for healthcare infringes on their liberties? LOL!!!
...and, if you squint hard enough, the death threat(s) Congressman Scott also received really says: "You were, you are, and you shall forever be a [presumably, vote-] rigger. An Ethiopian cannot make himself right." <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/K1zwDR3o9yY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/K1zwDR3o9yY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Just keep on viewing the world with your contacts out, pouhe; if you do so, it's a magical place. To quote HST, "With the right kind of eyes, you can almost see the high-water mark - the place where the wave broke and rolled back."
Okay, you get some lettuce just for the Thompson quote. I vividly remember reading that 25 years ago.
^^^ Thanks. Though, to be fair to his cannon-blasted memory, I am purposefully misconstruing it. I don't possess, given the implications and its history, the amount of ****-eyed optimism one must have to be able to look at a swastika and think: oh hey, that's a Star Wars/Conan knockoff.
Too bad I have to spread more rep around, or I would have added to your rep for this post. That was great to watch.
Neither is it forbidden by it. In fact you could say that the Constitution empowers Congress to provide national healthcare. Article 1 Section 8 The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; While arguments could be made either way I don't think healthcare, as currently discussed, is a consitutional issue.
Holy spankings Batman. I didn't want to watch it at first because I thought it was going to be her ranting like an idiot but am I glad I did.
Clearly, as a committed socialist, Obama is just doing the NHS's bidding, and completing some of the Brits' unfinished dirty work. (Upon further review, I am now similarly convinced that Bush doled out Medals of Freedom to Tenet, Bremer & Pace in a bid to strangle them for their high crimes & misdemeanors. If only those darned treasonous Code Pink protesters hadn't raised their ruckuses, and gotten in his way...)
Old Sheila Jackson Lee got PWN3D big time in her town hall meeting. Video is up at chron.com. Sheila's dumber than a box of rocks
Wow. You never realize how powerful and destructive mass stupidity can be until you watch an interview like this. You could probably tap her forehead and hear an echo.
