I'm hoping for a ban to everyone in this thread who would like to see Rockets players flop. And not a day or to but massive one, say 5 years. You disgust me.

I know, he needs to stop flopping because he never gets the call. Most of the time they call a defensive foul or he just falls on the ground and the Jazz get an easy 2 points.

well it is some opinions here that the Jazz flop and play dirty 100% more than us. So it would be one opinion to fight fire with fire. And Clutch does allow alternate opinions.

Now, I watched some of the Suns Spurs game today. The Spurs I consider #2 to the Jazz in dirty play but really way down below in terms of frequency. The Spurs suns game has much more of a natural flow to it - it looks much more like real basketball. So I do admit that what has happened over the course of our 4 games is RA has the Rockets playing much more of a slam dance game just like the Jazz so there is much more of people fighting their way thru picks and body slamming into each other, and people being knocked down.

But he has the team doing this in order to compete with his friend Jerry Sloan's dirty little Jazz who play this way every day during the season and then even more in the playoffs. Once RA saw these officials were going to call very few fouls he and the Rockets saw that the only way to stay in the game was to play slam dance a la Jazz.

If the Rockets played "the Jazz way" against the Lakers, with all the slamming and the arm and wrist slapping our whole team would foul out by halftime. Kirilenko reaches in a half dozen times and hacks on Tmac every time he has the ball. The diff is - no calls.

Was Scola "flopping" last night when he was knocked on his a$$ taking a charge and the idiot refs called it a block? Please... I can't believe anyone would complain about a rookie Argentine who played several years in Europe, became arguably the best player there, won an Olympic gold medal for his country, and is getting the "treatment" by the idiot refs simply because this is his first year. If anyone has a problem with Luis, it should be that he tries too hard and makes simple things difficult. He'll get over that. In my opinion, it certainly isn't Scola's fault that we're 1 and 3 in this series.

Dear Stern, why do you schedule the Rockets games so late? I don't think the Rockets had one game in the entire season that started at 9:40, while Utah get the normal 8:30 start. Every single game has been a late start, PHX/SA are in the same timezones, why can't they get the late start? It makes a lot more sense to give LA/Denver the late start, or Dallas/NOH.

scola busts his butt every night, so some of those flops and turnovers are okay by me...

one frustrating play last night was him working for the rebound and getting called for the foul. the refs are giving him the rookie treatment; he needs one more year under his belt before the calls go his way. I hope he stays a Rocket and contribute BIG next year

I hate to say it but i expected a little more out of Scola. We have alot of guys shooting poorly from the perimeter but 37% on mostly layups and inside shots is terrible. Mutombo and Landry have been more of a help in the post this series. He doesn't have to get to his average fg% but he has to do better for us to win.

Hard work is overrated, i'll take results anyday.

Also, Scola needs to learn how to rotate. I'm glad he has the tenacity to never give up on a play, but he has to get back on defense in pick and roll situations.

He rotates too hard and leaves his man WIDE open for a shot or wide open to get the rebound. I think this is the main reason we aren't doing as well on the boards.

He's a rookie. Landry wasn't having a good series until some great plays during the 3rd game, especially, of course, at the end. This is a new experience for Scola. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a great game 5 from Luis in Houston.

He just getting the Ref Respect that other floppers are getting
he has to EARN a rep as a defender. . then just start relying on the flopping

The refs aren't buying the Rockets' flops so they need to focus on solid, position defense and hope the refs do the correct thing. If the refs still choose to punish the Rocket defenders for their hard work then it is time to make the most of the fouls. If a Jazz player is going to force contact and get the call anyway then make sure his team mates are picking him up off the floor. Not flagrant fouls (except for Okur and AK) but some hard, "don't come in here" playoff fouls.

This Jazz team is not made up of nothing but tough players. Harpring and Williams are tough guys but the rest of that squad does not like getting hit.

I pointed that out a number of times in the game thread. He kept flopping -- and badly so -- and left his man wide open under the basket for an easy layup. No one was falling for it, he just didn't feel like playing defense anymore.

It's pathetic and beneath him, I would like to see Adelman get on him about that, although coach RA doesn't seem to ever get on anyone about anything, he's apparently super laid back and lets guys do their thing. I am OK with that philosophy up to a point, but ideally I would like a coach who's a balance between JVG's and RA's two extremes.

I don't mind him getting position and 'selling' the offensive foul ahead of time, but not when his man is backing him down. Scola's flops last night were at the worst possible time and were just 'bail out' plays, with his man backing him down close to the basket. When he flops in that position then he's just giving his man an easy layup/dunk. He needs to learn when to do it and when not to.

Anyways, if anything, this series has really magnified Scola's many, many weaknesses. In a sense it's a good thing because now he knows what he needs to work on in the off season. I really hope we see a drastically improved/smarter/more savvy Pepsi Scola next season. He's a smart player but he also strikes me as the stubborn type, so I hope he isn't the kind of player who's stuck in his ways (he's not that young afterall and has had some success elsewhere). He can be an all-star player if he wants to.
