I hate Boki with a passion ever since he was a b**** to Tmac....Luther Head puts up more points than him(besides this years flop)...and shoots better, sadly.
How good are they on defense? Who will guard the Kobes of the world? We need attacking players but we cant lose our defense. I say Battier is close to untouchable, I would not trade him straight up for any of those guys.
I know this is looking a bit far into the detail, but it bugs me that in your first trade you are moving both our 1s. i.e. lets say you pull off that first trade and you have Maggette on board, and then Toronto backs out of a deal for Calderon, youre screwed. Likewise, if you do the deal for Calderon first and then LA backs out of a deal for Maggette, you have no 2/3 swingman to play with tracy. you'd basically have to have the entire deal, with both those teams at least, pretty much set in stone and guaranteed before you did anything at all. does that happen in the NBA? in principle I agree that it would be a great team to have though. I think I'd much rather watch that team than the current one, and I believe you've done a good job of plugging the obvious holes (consistent PG play, adding size, attacking the basket).
I usually respect and enjoy reading DaDakota's comments, but this looks like a really green rookie thread. Total wishful thinking, little of which has any chance of happening. 1) Maggette will get much attention from other teams. We might have a chance if we use all our expirings and throw in our draft pick. 2) The Raptors are not trading Calderon. He is too good and they see what everybody else sees in TJ Ford, an injury waiting to happen. 3) All of the MLE is going to Landry and Boke will command more than the LLE 4) You could use the LLE on Green, but it doesn't look like they think he is worth it.
unrealistic. no way santa is gonna grant all the wishes. since we're just virtually day-dreaming, why not dream big? a re-signed landry plus all the guranteed contracts outside of yao and mcgrady (or whatever makes the $ match) to the suns for amare and nash. get into artest's head and convince him to opt out; then sign him to the mle. starting lineup - nash mcgrady artest amare yao
You guys are missing the fun of this thread, it is about what you wish the perfect offseason would be, and trying to be somewhat realistic, albeit one sided. Have some fun......see what Santa brings you this off season. DD
It will be entirely up to Maggette where he goes, he is an UFA, if he wants to come here, they will have to take the best deal they can get. There has been a ton of speculation about them trading Calderon and or Ford, either is a significant upgrade to our situation...I just prefer Calderon. Landry will not get all the MLE, that is nuts, no team is going to give him 6 million a year, and Boki can be had for a PORTION of the MLE, you missed this point entirely. I guess we shall see.... DD
Rafer is not getting traded. You don't trade your best PG for a maybe unless he's Baron Davis. I don't have a problem giving him up for Monta Ellis but that's not gonna happen. We do need another shooting guard and that should have been Francis last year. If you trade Francis out, then you gotta get another big shooting guard to back up T-Mac. The backup position to Shane Battier? hmmm I still think you need a 6'9" to 7 footer small forward. Bargnani''s stock has really fallen after last year and AK-47 is not happy in Utah. Maybe Darko? lol
1) Disagree. What makes you think that Maggette is so enamored with the Rockets. I'm sure he will go to whatever team offers the most money. The Rockets can only do that with a sign and trade. My point is that the clippers might want our expirings and a draft pick, but no way would they want to start their re-building with Alston and trash. They would be better off signing Maggette or letting him walk and freeing up the cap room. 2) Getting Calderon for DaDakota's dreaming is just that dreaming. Toronto is said they are going to re-sign him and other teams have more to offer if they decided to get rid of him. We are not the only team that thinks Calderon and Maggette have value and we have next to nothing to offer anyone, unless they want expirings and draft choices. Toronto is not looking to re-build they are looking to find someone to help Bosh and Calderon. 3) Morey has said he will do what it takes to sign Landry. I think he will get an offer close to if not at the full MLE. We will see.
Dear Santa... All I want is to read another thread started by DaDakota I kid, I kid. I want help at the point guard position and a larger backup 2 who doesn't disappear in the playoffs. I don't want Boki and I don't really care about Green. Maggette would be a big plus
Deke is going to back up Yao, who won't be around by mid-season? Since Mutombo can play only a few minutes, provided he can still walk by next season, who will play the majority of minutes? The durability of the team's stars (or lack thereof) and the lack of overall talent simply dooms this team to predictable outcomes. Since Yao and TMac will not play the majority of the season, you need first class talent to fill in. The Rockets don't have it. Calderon and Magette would be nice (though unlikely), but who will play with them when TMac and Yao are out? For this team to be a true contender in the West, talent has to flow in like a river, the planets align, and TMac and Yao defy the laws of physics.
I respectfully disagree with the trade ideas the original poster presented... less is more. let the team play healthy.
