Personally, I would like to see a balanced attack from T-Mc -- a trey here, a dunk there, a stop-n-pop over yon -- all wrapped around some assists to Yao and crew. With Francis, James, Bonzi, Luis et al pickin' and grinnin' off a dazzling array of screens and movement, other teams can't double team Yao or T-Mc effectively without paying a heavy price. I vowed last year I would not buy League Pass again, but here I sit ready to order.
I tell myself that every year, and every year I shell out the bucks. It drives me bananas that you can't pay for it in a lump sum from Time/Warner. I end up getting it spread over 4 payments, whether I want to or not, which generally start a couple of months into the season, and then my wife gets ticked off if she sees the bill. She could care less if I just paid for it and she never saw it. T/W claims the NBA makes them do it. I fuss about it every year, and it seems to never change. But enough of that... this season's gonna be great!
Dear Santa Adelman, Please be nicer to David Stern and the refs so Yao and Chuck won't get cheap D calls, and Yao and Tmac won't get bashed and still no calls on O (the JVG effect) and Tmac won't get his nose bashed in too much.... gosh I wouldn't drive to the hoop much any more if they treated me that way. And remember a boy can always use more Head. Donald Sterling agrees. Just for good measure please let Bruce Bowen and Manu Ginobili be suspended at least once during their careers for all the cheap shots. A Deke elbow to Bruce's noggin this season would be a pretty sight. So much to wish for, so little time. RR
Concur mightily. That and they won't let you order until almost the first day of the season. (Off to bed singing "Well, he had high hopes....yes, he had high, apple pie hopes .....")
Very true, it's all a possibility and we will have to wait till the preseason to see what condition our guys are in. I just hopw that Tacy and Yao between them can score 55 points a game- it's possible!!
What about all the Rockets fans that were sad to see the bare faced Coach A. Some of us remember Coach A as a Moustached Face and liked it!!
I generally agree with the comments. But one thing that happened with the kings I'm sure has traumatized Adelman from designing more alley-oop plays. There was one play called by the kings which somehow had Webber receiving the alley-oop pass in traffic and somehow Webber injured himself. That ultimately led to the downfall of the kings in the Adelman era and that was mainly how Webber came from superstar status to mediocre status.
Dear Mr Adelman, Please explain to most of the guards and small forwards, that a "triple threat" does not mean they should always shoot 3's (i.e., triples); instead, they should evaluate each situation and make a quick decision to shoot, pass, or drive to the basket. Kind regards, LP PS. As a special addendum to Bonzi, please let him know that, in his case, a triple burger with cheese and extra mayo is a "triple threat" he should avoid. Thank you.
If we are making wish lists then here I go, Dear Santa, Please let Yao have a little freedom in the offensive game instead of the mechanical robot that he has become under JVG. I remember a certain Turkish defensive beast from the Jazz calling him predictable. In order for yao to play in Adelman's high post offense, he needs to regain the 'speed' that he's lost due to the leg injury. Make the offense flow like you promised. I don't think Yao and T-Mac played "together" under JVG. Instead it was a bunch of one on ones. I want someone else under than T-mac to initiate the offense. Limit his responsibilities so he will be fresh when the playoff comes around. Hugs and Kisses, DW P.S. Make Deke 20 years younger, Bonzi 20 pounds lighter, Luther 5 inches taller, give stevie his hops back and combine the best qualities of mike james and rafer into one player
I went to bed last night with a tune I couldn't get out of my head. I found it today and it is applicable for frustration with League Pass and the Rockets coming season. See if you remember this (posters who don't remember the 60s please ignore): Next time you're found with your chin on the ground There's a lot to be learned so look around. Just what makes that little ole ant Think he'll move that rubber tree plant? Anyone knows an ant can't Move a rubber tree plant But he's got hi-i-igh hopes, he's got hi-i-igh hopes He's got high apple pi-i-ie-in-the-sk-y-y hopes So, any time you're gettin' low, 'stead of lettin' go, just remember that ant -- Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant When troubles call and your back's to the wall There a lot to be learned -- that tall ol’ wall could fall. Once there was a silly old ram Thought he'd punch a hole in a dam No one could make that ram scram He kept buttin' that dam 'Cause he had hi-i-igh hopes, he had hi-i-igh hopes He had high apple pi-i-ie-in-the-sk-y-y hopes So, any time your feelin' bad, 'stead of feelin' sad, just remember that ram -- Oops, there goes a billion-kilowatt dam Oops, there goes a billion-kilowatt dam Oops, there goes a billion-kilowatt dam.
I wasn't born in until the 70's but I love that song. Frank Sinatra's version with the kids is my favorite. I bought the LP at the end of last season for the 99 bucks. I actually loved it. I really hate to pay the full price this year, but I probably will too. Though there was something to be said for the entertainment value of watching on Chinese tv too
word but yeah hopefully Ricky does encourage Tmac to attack the basket more...there were times last year where I would've liked to see JVG bench tmac or get in his face for hoisting up so many jumpers.
what this guy said......there comes a time where you have to throw the "I might get injured" out the window and attack the basket...I'm not expecting Tracy to do the nightly facials that he used to be capable of, but he DOES need to drive it in the lane more.....
Dear Inspector Adelman, Please use your helicopter hat and spring shoes to bring joy and excitement to all the children of the toyota center!
Dear Mr. Adelman: It isn't just T-Mac that I would like to see shoot less jumpers, especially three-point shots, but everyone else, for that matter. Last season, the Rockets basically lived and died by the three-point shot. Of the team's scoring, 26.6 percent of it came from beyond the arc, which was the most of any team in the league when it came to depending on the three-point shot. A team with as good a center as Yao shouldn't live and die by the three-point shot. Last season, the Phoenix Suns got 26.1 percent of its scoring from beyond the arc while the Golden State Warriors got 24 percent of its scoring from beyond the arc. Both of those two teams were the only teams that attempted more three-point shots than the Rockets, and neither one of them made it past the second round of the playoffs. Playoff games and playoff series are won inside the paint. I just hope to see enough other players attack the rim more next season.
