    Hey, aren't you that idiot?

Yes, Van Gundy was our coach in 2003. Thanks for asking.

I like this trick of using any loss to prove that the coach doesn't know what he's doing.

Since you're kind of dumb, here's some education for you: All great coaches have lost games. Pointing out, after the fact, what they might have done which might have resulted in wins doesn't prove they're bad coaches and it doesn't prove that you're less dumb than you actually are. There are more than 20 head coaches in the league right now, each of whom is making around a million dollars a year or more to coach, that you could play that game with more successfully than you do with JVG. And I only say that because he has won more games than any of them even while coaching a team beset by injuries to it's two stars.

You would have made this substitution or that? Really? Dude. You should coach. You could make serious money.

Also: I wasn't watching basketball in 1776. I was watching it in 1976, when I was seven years old. I'm a life long Rockets fan. So when you tell me I don't have any business talking about the Rockets if I don't watch every single game since I no longer live in Houston and don't have access to every game you should be prepared for me to tell you you have no business telling me anything on account of your chronic dumbness.

Dude. Listen to me for a minute. Hear me out. This is the best Rockets team (not to mention the one with the best record) since Hakeem Olajuwon was feeling right. And it's happening with, pretty much every game, either Yao Ming or Tracey McGrady not playing. Now, if you think that's an occasion to call for new leadership, well... Well, ****. Well, what? I don't know what to tell you, man. You just seem like a freaking idiot. That's not because I'm reactionary or impolite though I am both of those things. It's just because it's a flat dumb position to take if you've ever watched a whole basketball game, start to finish, in your entire stupid life. Okay? Here's a smilie: :) It's like a lollipop but on the internet. Is it yummy? Do you feel better? That's great.

p.s. my name's Batman Jones, not "Batman Jim or whatever." But you knew that, didn't you?

I was not happy with the effort tonight, nor JVG saying he wasn't happy with it either, but he didn't hold his players accountable for their lack of effort, did he?

You've got a point there. Maybe we should fire Gundy and hire Rudy back like you've said. After all, Rudy NEVER put up with a lack of effort. You play soft under Rudy and you can be DAMN sure he's not giving you his other twinkie. Do it twice and he might even stick his bottom lip out at you.

Dude, were you in the locker room? No matter what you think of him, you know as well as I do that no coach living or dead holds his players accountable more than JVG does. You know that. And I know you know that because I've seen your bash him for it. Now you're bashing him for not doing it (in your imagination)?

Dakota, the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Uh....no....if he held them accountable did he yank them from the game, like Popovich does?

No, he waited until AFTER the game to make the point.

Why let a winnable game slip away due to poor effort, why not make a stand DURING the game and yank all 5 players to make a point.

Popovich did it when the Spurs were down 19 to the Rockets in the third quarter in Houston, and their scrubs ignited a comeback.

But, more importantly, when the starters came back in.....their effort was better as they clearly got the message.

And, I do not for one SECOND think that JVG is equal in accountability, otherwise how the hades can you explain his complete trust in that horrid starting PG Rafer Alston?

    JVG plays favorites...big time......

    Tell me this, DaDakota:

Have you ever -- IN YOUR LIFE -- seen a Rockets team that didn't get blown out in a single game? That, even if they wound up losing, led substantially at some point in the game? That, EVERY SINGLE GAME, was in striking distance all the way up to the last couple minutes?

    No. You have not.

    Stop crying. I mean it.

I didn't want to single you out when I started this thread, but this is an historic season. And, on this board at least, you are ruining the fun.

You personify the whiney, low self-esteem Houston fan cliche.

You hate JVG so much that you can't enjoy this team's successes at all. It's weak, dude. And it's a shame.

    Batman,

I am not ruining anything, I am commenting on what I see, you just don't happen to agree with it.

I enjoy the team's success, and agonize over failures.

The difference is that I hold them to a higher standard than you......I am NOT satisfied with simply getting by, I want the brass ring, and you can clearly see when the effort is there and when it is not.

Look, if you don't like the posts, don't read em. But, don't try to come around and tell people what to post or what is acceptable.......quit trying to enforce a BBS Patriot act....

And please stop with the personal insults it is beneath you.

But to whine about the whining.....how hypicritical is that?

JVG has stated this repeatedly....He is going with what he has. Until further notice - Rafer is our starting PG. Batman is right about one thing for sure....that you have animosity towards JVG and you will never be happy with him as our coach. You say JVG has favorites on the team but Rudy T was the same way.

Sammy, I have NEVER liked JVG...ever....and nothing about that has changed.

I do think he is a good coach, but I think he is not a championship coach.

I hope he is gone after this year...

    No doubt about it.....

But that doesn't stop me from rooting for my Rockets.

I fully agree, I don't see how constantly calling people idiots because they have a different opinion on something basketball-related is really necessary to make a point.

    DaDa:

Houston fans suck. They always have. I don't know why. It's just the way it is. I don't pretend to understand it. It's why JVG and T-Mac had to buy tickets for hardcore fans to make the Toyota Center an advantage rather than a liability.

You go to any other NBA fan site. They are all inferior to this one in every way but one: they are ****ing psyched when their teams kick ass. They aren't constantly looking for the loophole. They aren't constantly bashing the guys who bring them wins, insisting as you do that those wins aren't enough or aren't good enough. They enjoy their teams' successes and they stand up for them, in good times and bad. You can't even stand up for your team in good times. Not even in the best times they've had since they won the damn trophy.

And, in the face of that, yeah. I say, stop whining. Stop crying. Is it hypocritical for me to "whine" about you whining? Well, maybe. I'm intolerant of intolerance too (whether it's from gay-bashers or the KKK), but I don't feel too bad about that.

I'm only asking you to enjoy the good stuff this team is doing and to let us enjoy it a little too -- even if it means Vassilis Spanoulis doesn't get to be a star this year.

What will it take for you to do that?

Making the playoffs? The second round? WC Finals? NBA Finals? I get the feeling that if we took the finals to 7 games with Yao and T-Mac both lost to injury and lost by a point in double overtime you'd blame it on the fact that Van Gundy was a sucky coach. That's not cause I'm predisposed against you. It's just how you come off these days. And I'm trying to enjoy the ride, man. Don't jump in my chili. That's all I'm asking.

He took an eight seed to the Finals. I wonder how you would like it if we were allowing a hundred points a game. By the way, who do you want to replace JVG with other than Rudy ?

Did he win with that 8 seed?

I don't know...have to think about it.......and it is pointless to discuss now as we are stuck with him.

Batman, Houston fans are no different than any other sports fans....

You think the Chicago Bears fans are all happy with Grossman, even though they are in the NFC Championship game?

    What about Philly fans.

Come off your high horse......every fan is different in how they react to situations.

If you want to enjoy the ride...then do it....GOOD FOR YOU !

Me, I like to vent !

No, but I remember one winning it all from the 6th seed in a superior conference...and in a full year.

    What was your point again?

And yes, I like the defense....

And Jackie Chiles, you're a frickin BBS stalker. You pick a poster you don't like and follow him around the board til he leaves. Then you brag about it til your chest explodes. So, I'll tell you what. I'm not super inclined to take lessons from you on internet civility.

Also, for the record, you're just about the most annoying guy around these parts.

If you don't like it, report me. Your admonitions are boring.

I get heated up in the D&D, it's true. There we're talking about stuff like wars in which people live or die. That stuff gets my blood pumping. Here we're talking about basketball and I assume we're all on the same team. The language I use here is meant in good fun. I like DaDakota and he knows it. And I think he likes me too. None of this is personal. You can butt out or keep making your usual weirdo comments. I don't care. But you won't catch me wasting time on a dork like you about it again.

Down with dorks. Up with Rockets.

This defeats your argument. Philly fans are terrible. I think they booed when Irving left on a stretcher. They booed Jeff Garcia, even though they had been winning. They give Mcnabb a hard time also, which makes no sense to me. Like I mentioned, I have been frustrated with JVG but he is not the problem for sure. Im amazed that you don't realize that injuries are the problem.

I understand that, but I also understand that at the end of the year, we need to have a homecourt advantage of some kind to have any chance this year.

Tonight's game was inexcusable...and even though I dislike JVG...I really wish he would not have double standards and he would DO SOMETHING during the game to make a point rather than after the game.

JVG is a good coach, no doubt, but I just don't think he is "The one".

I wonder if Vince Young can coach !
