You mean don't like postings swings that go like this...?

After a loss... The Rockets suck. player x is killing us. We should do impossible trade y. We just can't compete with the top teams.

After a win... What? We are getting disrespected in the media and around the league. Yao/T-mac should be MVP. Why are we only #3 in the power rankings? We deserve to be number 1. team z fans have to be the stupidest in the league to think their team is anywhere near as good as the Rockets.

Hah, I knew you would only look at his Per game average.

Since he came back from injury he has averaged 37.4167 MPG....and that includes games against the Hawks where he only played 28 minutes.

And how many games have the Rockets been firmly in control of that JVG leaves him out there on the court?

    Tmac's game by game breakdown

JVG should be limiting his minutes and keeping him fresher ESPECIALLY in games which the Rockets are firmly in control.

That way he is fresher come playoff time.

I would like to see Tmac pulled a little earlier in the first half to keep him fresh at the end as well....pull him around the 7 or 8 minute mark....

Anyway.....why argue with me? We are not going to agree...are we?

You want to play the final 7-8 minutes of the first half without McGrady? That's a recipe for disaster.

i think jvg changed his style when tmac arrived. he loosened up the reigns bc he had never had a talent like tmac, and it works well when we have everyone healthy and contributing like they should.

since then...i don't really see a difference. not to say he sucks as a coach, he should be fired immediately, or all that other nonsense, but the same problems we saw in jvg from two years ago are the same ones we see now.

i no longer know what the argument in this thread is about, whether its about cluttering the board or discussing our coach. again, i don't like the number of threads popping up about whats wrong with jvg after a loss (esp to the two best teams in the league) bc most of the time its just rehashing the same old points. some valid, some not so much.

but i agree, if you reply to a thread that hasn't been locked, you're just fueling the flames. if you want to see the thread gone, don't reply and let the MODS do their thing, and it'll be out of your sight soon enough.

Ooops...I meant pulled in the first quarter at the 7 or 8 minute mark and reinserted after a few minutes in the 2nd Quarter.

What are you talking about, man? I LOVE postings like those especially the trade proposals- and many are actually serious too.

These trades off the top of my head that I've heard:

Pick one or make a combination:

    Sura, Novak, Bonzi,Vspan, Howard, TE.

    Pick a player:

Jameer Nelson, David Lee, Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, Rashard Lewis.

And Kobe has a bad knee, Wade just sprained his wrist after taking all the beating he does on the court, Paul Pierce ... what do you want JVG to do? Lose games because his main offensive weapon is riding the pine? What do you want to do, reduce Tracy McGrady to playing bench minutes at the expense of winning games? His minutes HAVE been reduced already. This argument has no legs whatsoever, DD.

    nappdog, you can't be serious...

Are you honestly saying that Tmac does not have a bad back?

Or are you just piling on?

Excellent job DaDakota. I support your stance when others are piling on. Manny my friend- I hear you. I am reticent about posting when so many Van Gundy supporters/ zealots will pounce.

I am a Rockets team fan 1st. I have been following this team since '85-'86 season. I have stuck with them thru the bad and the good. Anyone recall how bad things were after we sent Pippen out of town, Hakeem was getting older, Charles Barkley played here well past his prime, and Maloney was our point guard.

I am very happy right now as a fan- team is winning, even with our stars out.We are playing excellent basketball and competing every nite.

    My concerns:

I am very concerned about Tracy's back. I want him to be viable at playoff time. He is so special- his minutes need to be managed so he does not kill himself. This is part of effective coaching. This is a big deal.

This team can be read like a book. come playoff time I am afraid that Van Gundy's lack of adaptability as a coach will lead playoff coaches to devise strategies that will run over our defense and render our offense ineffective. Remember- in a series the teams weaknesses get exposed.

Van Gundy is a very good coach. I never wanted to hire him, but support this team and try not to dog Van Gundy too much. VAn Gundy is doing a good job, but I doubt he can coach us into the playoffs far. I hope we can, but I have my doubts.

There -I said I support Van Gundy, but doubt he can bring us to the championship -I said it without the name calling. That was unnecessary to make your point Batman.

Keep on keeping on DaDakota. You are the man. many support and most respect you here.

Good post, TBar (this is actually my 3rd post in the same GARM thread in one day...been awhile since that has happened!). I agree with you on what you said and also see where Batman is coming from. I think he went a little over the top but that is his style - anybody who has been around here knows that he is passionate - sometimes too much for his own good.

I guess the biggest thing that frustrates me with Jeff Van Gundy is his reluctance or stubborness (is more like it) to adapt to things. He is doing a little bit better this season than before but a lot of that has to do with Shane Battier and good seasons (so far) out of Luther Head, Dikembe Mutombo, and Juwan Howard. I feel that he is a "system" coach and that he has to have certain players to make him successful. He can't adapt his coaching style to the players he is given. He's too rigid - not a very flexible guy, IMO.
