I agree with SSG. I give it virtually no chance of happening, but it would be nice. I for one wanted us to draft Joseph Adai and think we look stupid for not bringing our hometown hero in.
Makes sense to me. I just don't want to hear "I'm not a UT fan" coming out of Austin. It's all Austinitis and they are all infected.
That's horsecrap. I happen to know several TAMU graduates who live and work in Austin. It's time to give VY his due based upon his own merit. Regardless of where he went to college, he took the helm of a floundering team in his rookie season and went like 7 and 2.
Good analysis...I think we all want a winner and believe Carr is not the answer... I do think we'll get a veteran QB (Jake) and draft one (Kolb)...
was 2005 all david carr's fault? because there were better options at [insert position] all up and down the draft board considering how terrible the team was last year. shouldn't fans adhere to the same dictum? that you wanted them to draft another QB in april tells me YOU didn't allow his performance to be objectively evaluated, or corrected, by kubiak and smith. and yes, YOU do have an impact on this decision. your boos, your lack of attendance, your wearing a VY shirt - whatever; bob mcnair (probably) doesn't live in a cave. aren't YOU trying to force HIS hand? i would disagree with the quick to forgive, considering the draft was nearly a year ago and you haven't yet forgiven them, given the # of times you mention it. but, whatever - the bigger problem i have is this: he did make progress. here is his progression on a per game average his first three years: '02: 52.2 comp %; 162.0 yds.; .563 TDs; .938 INT '03: 56.6 comp %; 167.8 yds.; .75 TDs; 1.1 INT '04: 61.2 comp %; 220.7 yds; 1.0 TD; .875 INT that's not progress???? and he was really good in 2004; at times, flat-out great. then the ENTIRE TEAM falls into unexpectedly into a ditch in 2005... so what's the fluke? three years of progress, or one year of the entire organization regressing... but, whatever - i'm not arguing that he should be back (though he probably will be). but i will argue that he didn't make any progress - that's flat-out wrong.
David made progress but he's maddeningly inconsistent. He needs an opportunity elsewhere, and the Texans need an opportunity with someone else.
I would say the overwhelming majority of Austin was glad UT/VY won the Championship. It's basically the home team since Austin is to weak to have any real professional teams. So it is an Austin thing almost as much as a UT thing. I don't think there can be an unbiased voice concerning VY coming out of there.
I would say your objectivity concerning current NFL quarterbacks is far more clouded by this issue than anyone I've spoken to from Austin. Take the guy at his word. You'd expect the same.
You sound like an aggie. If so, that would explain everything. You are incapable of saying anything positive about UT.
What issue? I think I am as objective a possible. The Texans did not take him and that is it. I'm not the one constantly complaining about it. I do not think it is a coincidence that the biggest VY supporters here live in Austin/ UT. KingCheetah, Tinman, updawg, DaDakota, mrdave543, TheFreak, Cohen, all list Austin as "Location" in their profile (except for tinman that says N/A but we all know he does)
Originally, but your irritation with the whining has clouded your objectivity. What do you think of Vince Young as an NFL QB, now that he's had 9 or so games? Of course it's not. But you're ignoring all the supporters (just as big btw) who don't live in Austin. Hey Max, are you a UT alum? You researched this?
Objectivity concerning what? I already knew most of these guys lived there. And I have been friends with two of the idiots listed for close to 20 years.
Agreed - they took polls in Houston shortly after the national championship game between Vince / Bush and it was split about 50-50. Half of Houston is not UT fans. What changed is that when Carr was extended, UT fans were probably more vocal continuing with the "Draft VY" stuff, whereas others probably weren't quicker to accept it wasn't happening.
