    Exactly.

The guys that have been around here know exactly what I'm talking about.

    DonnyMost
    DonkeyMagic
    SchaubNow (I think)
    Plenty others (in hiding now)

All said that Walter was fine as a #2 because the #2 in this offense is only the 4th/5th option. I laughed.

Obviously, I am happy to have Hopkins

So, in your opinion, DeAndre Hopkins will never amount to anything beyond the #2 WR in this offense. Interesting.

    Defenders of the regime.

Kevin Walter is a perfect #2 for the Texans!
Arian Foster can run the ball infinity times and not suffer consequences!
The Texans are good at managing the salary cap!

If Hopkins can stay healthy and develop, he has the skillset to take over WR#1 when the time comes. That time is coming in the next couple of years, and you need to have talent in the pipeline.

So ridiculous, the reason our #2 WR was the 4th/5th option was because it was Kevin Walter.

By the OPs post, if we had traded for Calvin Johnson would you still say, "whats the point, he will only be relegated to the 4th option on our offense? "

You work with what you got, man this is gonna be a long season, can't wait!

whenever schaub makes those under thrown deep balls. hopkins can come back and go up to get them.. which will improve schaubs accuracy rating, thus giving fuel to the schaub is an accurate qb crowd..

Yeah, 50-yard bombs are a great way to judge a QB's accuracy.

yes but accuracy is as simple as a statistic for the pro schaub crowd.. and the only thing that matters for the accuracy stat is completions.. follow..

It's really not too hard to NOT complete those 5 yard (when you need 6), over the middle dump off passes to Owen Daniels every third down. Or every other down.

Hopkins has a MUCH higher ceiling than Walter. If you don't see that then I don't know what to tell you.

that's essentially what manning and brady do. =) except brady cannot complete them against an elite D and peyton can't complete against any playoffs d. just saying, since we like taking it to the extreme in the armchair/watercooler world.

maybe too much video game play choosing the same hail mary play over and over for you guys?
But In real life, I've never seen a quarterback in a westcoast/denver style offense throw bomb after bomb. his yards per completion for his career in Houston rank with the other top 9 qbs. =) I know you guys can't stand it that he is our qb.

In a perfect world, Hopkins would progress and be able to take over the #1 spot in two years and Andre could slide into the #2 role for the twilight of his career.

He's such a good route runner that he could easily extend his career in that role, much the same way that Isaac Bruce did opposite Torry Holt and Jerry Rice/Terrell Owens.

Not what I meant. Im talking about Hopkins go snag it over the defender TD grab.

Point is, Hopkins will most likely make his presence felt, as a far as an option. As opposed to what Walter had done for us.
