I am confused as to why so many posters are so high on Hopkins. I was told ,by said posters, that the #2 wr in this offense is the 4th/5th option so Walter is fine as a #2. So why all the hype about a 4th/5th option?
:Sigh: Shaking my arse, I mean, Shaking My Head. closing my book on this thread. Dre. seems to think this is the best core of receivers.

The thinking being that if the second WR wasn't just a warm body then it could be more than a 4th/5th option.
Ha, that was definitely said 'a few' times but folks, I think, should be cautiously optimistic about Hopkins.
The NFL is a playmakers league at this point. The days of grinding it out and controlling the clock to win games has come and gone. We controlled the clock against the Pats...where'd that get us? Hopkins is a playmaker. He's a huge upgrade on Walter for that alone.
This thread would have been readable if you had acknowledged the one strength of Walter, at least according to Kubiak: his blocking. You could have gone on to suggest that Hopkins is not clutch at blocking for whatever reason. Oh well.

Walter's had a 900 yard season before, and for a very brief period of time, he AJ and Daniels were considered a top tier receiving corps.
I get the poster's point and agree. When people (like myself) argued we needed to get a better #2 WR over Walter, many here would go on and on about how WR2 was the 4th or 5th option on the offense and all they really needed to do was block. That was why we never tried to upgrade. Now that we HAVE a playmaker, everybody seems to think we needed this all along! Just like many of us have been saying for years.
