Sorry for the terrible formatting of the copied article below... the whole story is written in short bursts of sentences. Let's see Israel's and the Persian Gulf Arabs' reactions to this step forward.

We know what their reactions will be because everyone in the region hates Iran. Israel will be the most vocal.

Holy.... This is a big f'ing deal.

Most Americans didn't realize it, but we have been on course to a war with Iran over their nuclear program for some time now. It would have been a war that we wouldn't have wanted to fight (because we have grown tired of fighting mainly due to Iraq), but it would have been a war we would have had to fight (because it would have destablized the region and threatened not only us, but both our allies Israel and Saudi Arabia).

Its great news that a large part of the threat has been diverted for now, although there is still more work to be done from what I understand and sanctions are still in place. I'm not sure how much approval Obama will receive from the American public on this, but it honestly is one of his biggest achievements. He is ending our wars and avoiding new ones so our military servicemen don't have to risk their lives for us.

Congrats Obama. You have single handily prevented WWIII. Without your amazing and relentless goals of bringing world peace, we would never had this deal. I completely see why he received the Nobel Peace Prize

Iran's nuclear ambitions are nothing new. Israel and the KSA are butthurt since they can't now plan a suicide air attack on a mountainous country, but there is a reasonable reason to think Iran's nucelar ambitions aren't about dropping h-bombs on their neightbors.

The largest state sponsor of terrorism that lynches gays, stones women, and wants to exterminate Jews gets to keep enriching uranium, and we lift sanctions and pay them money for it, all without the consent of Congress.

    Peace in our time, truly.

The White House was very careful about celebrating too early. While it's great news, no one is popping champagne corks and busting out the cigars. False equivalencies with Chamberlain are a load of hot air.

But this deal was 10 years in the making, involving the leaders of France, the UK, Russia, China and Germany as well (making headlines that this is a deal with the US or "The West" a bit misleading). The deal gives the rest of the world transparency into their enrichment activities. If Iran tries to do an end-run around them, the sanctions come back and military options are back on the table.

Sanctions hammered Iran severely...24% unemployment and the difficulty getting their oil to market. It an was existential neccesity for Iran. This allows them to save face and lower their paranoia and get their country back on track economically.

In 10 years, Iran will be a very different place. The desire for Western Consumerism is an innate human trait.

NEWS FLASH: Conceding aspects is part of a negotiation. It's not like we are giving the keys to our sisters vagina. come on.

the irony is not lost here that the iranians are more willing to negotiate than the GOP.

All the GOP trolls of clutchfans haven't had a chance to listen to rush or get their talking points yet.

    GOP TROLLS CONSPICUOUSLY ABSENT

props to commodore (the only GOP non troll on this entire site) for at least *trying* to make an attempt.

So we are going to agree that they can enrich uranium and assume that they are going to obey the mandate that it not be used for weapons? Brilliant plan.

should be noted that the $6-$7 billion in sanction relief is not coming out of anyones pocket. It is money already belonging to Iran/Iranians in the form of frozen assets and bank accounts, and possibly their own oil reserves that can be bought and sold on the market now.

Genius move by Iran. They knew Obama was at his weakest point coming off the debacle of his signature "accomplishment" (Obamacare) and he was looking to save face. Iran also knew how poorly Obama has handled any kind of foreign relations incidents (Arab Spring failures, Syria pushover). Iran used this window of opportunity to gain concessions on the punishing sanctions. Desperation from Obama that leaves the world a more dangerous place.
