You're not the only one, but I personally don't think most folks will get that bent out of shape over it. Especially when you look at the piss poor job Rudy's done as coach and GM over the last few seasons. I've said it repeatedly since the season ended. Rudy will more than likely be back next season, but it has nothing to do with him being the right man for the job. Instead it'll be because: 1) He's got $12 million left on his contract over the next two seasons. 2) He's got cancer. 3) He coached the Rockets to two titles 8 and 9 years ago respectively. Either way you look at it, the Rockets are in for more of the same next season. It'll likely take a 5th straight season out of the playoffs for Les to finally sack up and can the guy.
Why are the wannabe troy barros posters coming out so soon? Sheesh the playoffs just started. Can't they wait until the end of the post season?
Obvious prediction time eh? If all goes to plan later today there will be, now please listen closely, a sunset. Now you heard it here first so don't say I didn't tell you so.
This thread just got some credibility. EG and Cat being on the block is obvious, but Rudy definately being out the door is shocking to me.
I'm not going to believe anything until I heard it from FOX 26. also, does anyone know why FOX 26 always gets the good "inside" stuff before all of the other Houston stations do?
Haha...isn't it great how some newbie gets trashed for making a prediction that many are calling for and then Doc Rocket or pops or someone that IS respected says "yea, this is legit"? Thank GOD Les realizes some changes need to be made.
Although he didn't specifically confirm it, Doc Rocket's a good enough source for me to believe this stuff's actually being talked about. I look to Fox to break something that's actually happened and to the insiders on cc.net to break stuff that's being discussed. I'm also shocked by the Rudy thing. Even before the cancer I didn't see Les firing a lifer right before the move to the new arena. (We all saw how well the Turbo move went for him.) With the cancer I just thought there was no way. But if Doc says it's being talked about (which, of course, he didn't specifically), I'm inclined to believe it. Mark Berman clearly has a special relationship with the front office. He also seems to be the sportscaster with the greatest interest in the Rockets. Giff Nielsen seems like he doesn't even watch the games.
1. I forgot that Clutch also mentioned that he thinks "Larry" Brown might be coaching the Rockets next year. 2. Les is not coming out and saying that Rudy will be the coach next year. 3. Doc Rocket is verifying Bag0b0y's thread. Looks like it might be over for Rudy.
Agreed, but Rudy's gonna have to do a hell of an acting job to make it look like it's not a force out.
The lack of progress, even regressing, in so obvious for Rockets players. When one or two players are not processing, you can blame the player. But when the majority of your players are not improving, you blame the coach! If the Rudy-Francis-Mobley ISOmania triangle is broken down, I will drink to that.
Berman is The Man. The other 3 guys just show up, primp up, read teleprompters for 2 minutes, then go home.
I am sorry but Doc Rocket or Buzz lightyear could not convince me that this story is true Les fires Rudy now he will be booed and shunned by many and be classified as the scum who fired a coach battling cancer. I think Les is thinking how am I gonna fill 18,000 seats in a new arena next season....Firing Rudy is not the answer to it.
