Let's be fair here. Are Lakers actually better with the deal? We can make an argument that Scola, Martin, Dragic and pick is not worth Gasol. But Gasol IS a huge reason as to why the Lakers won a championship. Gasol is a 7ft finesse center, guys like him are key pieces to championships. Guys like him come by as rarely as Chris Paul. Lakers' frontcourt advantage will be completely nullified. Losing both Odom (6th man of the year) and Gasol (perennial all-star) for an injury prone all-star PG? This deal may not benefit us that much, but Lakers are not exactly better off. Don't forget they lost Shannon Brown as well.
The owners have some sense. CP3, Kobe, Artest, Okafor, and Gasol? Are you effing kidding me? Is this the ASG? What's the point of taking on Gasol if all it means is the Rockets will get swept if they make the playoffs.
Yeah the trade as it was, was bad. But now that it hasn't gone through I think there is going to be some bad feelings around Toyota Center from Scola and Martin, so maybe it would have been better for the trade to go through.
Guess what? Young talent worth having would not be flipped for those two players at their salary. Think before you post.
I wasn't crazy about the trade, but it's a damned good thing for the league that people like me will support their team regardless of how corrupt and generally ****ed the league front office and most of the owners are. God, they so take us for granted!
If they drop odom from the deal than NO will not be taking on that much more salary, plus lakers can send them $3mil cash to make up some of the diff. Better yet, trade Paul straight to us!
So we got **** blocked I wonder how Luis and Kevin would feel about this mess Are they going to very motivated?
