Fox shot themselves in the foot when they couldn't keep Bryan Singer from leaving to do that godawful Superman movie and gave the X-3 film to that asshat Brett Ratner. Then they compounded the mistake by doing a sub-par Wolverine spinoff movie. I hope X-Men: Apocalypse delivers.
Well, FC and DoFP were great imo, so I think the third one will be good as well. Just hope there's less J-Law this time around. Never thought I'd be saying that.
I'm not a movie guru so can anyone tell me how they made X-Men Origins: Wolverine for a 150 million and it looked worse than this test footage? How is it even possible? I'm actually curious and not just crapping on the movie.
Yea I really enjoyed both movies and I agree about Mystique. They're making her out to be a bigger character in the X-Men canon than she really is (probably due to Lawrence's star status).
Also, isn't/wasn't the Deadpool movie confirmed, but is being rewritten to mesh with the rebooted timeline? And/or a Cable movie is coming, but I think it's Cable/Deadpool in the same movie. Unless that's X-Force, but I think Deadpool+Cable is separate from the X-Force movie. But it would make sense that Cable+Deadpool and even Wolverine show up in X-Force. See what a mess Fox is.
It was just a mess IMO. It's watchable but given the fact that we've been spoiled by X2, Spider-Man 2, Iron Man etc up until that point (and the fact that Wolverine is the most well known X-Men character) it left a lot to be desired. The actor playing Gambit was ho-hum (I don't think it helped that his inclusion in the movie was just thrown in there). Whoever the hell Will.I.Am was supposed to be would have been better served to actually be Nightcrawler. There were many options Fox could have went with a first movie for Wolverine and that certainly wasn't one of them.
You didn't mention it was the 42nd origin movie for Wolverine (with the same actor) but my main curiosity was the technical aspects. It looked horrible for a 150 million dollar feature. It seems like it would be HARD to fail that miserably. There has to be a story there.
Some of the effects shots in Wolverine were not given the same time/effort as the rest of the movie, let alone the franchise. The part where he pops his claws in the bathroom and they look like they were made with MS Paint sticks out.
