If it is like Dead Rising.......that sucks, that was a terrible game. But this looks like it was done a lot better, Dead Rising had so many design flaws
Yet they call it survival horror. I read the same stuff. It also sounds like the story is much more of a driver than the terrible excuse for a story Dead Rising had. We will see. I just hope it lives up to this early hype it is getting. I always seem to get dissapointed by these things.
Word. Dead rising had such a great premise, but the clock, terrible boss battles, wonky controls, and lack of accessibility to all of the combo weapons made it come up short of what it could have been.
Trailer was OK, but I'd expect as much from a CG trailer. Better trailers out there IMO, including non-CG ones. Not particularly excited about the game, though mostly because I'm not really into zombie action games (which sounds like what this is...can't really do a "Silent Hill" with 4-player coop). Plus so much other stuff to be interested in, at least for 2011. Maybe I'll change my mind when they show some gameplay videos. Try Amnesia. Or the studio's other games. Though not really a zombie game I guess.
Never played any of those, but I have played Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Is that similar to Oblivion's melee? Am not impressed if so. I'm not saying they didn't do the best they could with it, but I don't ever see how FPS melee can be that good.
The premise/concept for Dead Rising had a lot of promise, but as others have pointed out, the execution was f***ing awful. If this can be a grown up version of Dead Rising with better controls and more well-conceived objectives, it will be pretty awesome. Although unlike most here, I was not impressed by the trailer. Show me gameplay please.
Oblivion's combat is much more fluid and everything is in real-time. I've heard Dark Messiah of Might and Magic had a great first-person melee combat system.
Jedi Knight was not a melee game. You switched from guns to your saber and force powers when you got strong enough, but you were still fighting at range 99% of the time. I don't see how this game can succeed as first-person. It HAS to be 3rd-person, but good, as in Assassin's Creed or Infamous, and not annoying (but still insanely fun) like in Dead Rising.
Because it is on an island, it is a rip off of lost? The only thing in the trailer that made me think of lost was the fading out of the eye at the beginning
I kind of noticed some similarities as far LOST using flashbacks to fill in the story, and the 5th season started having flash forwards until the on island and off island timelines reconciled in the season finale. And the girl being thrown out of a hotel window by her father is similar to how Locke got paralyzed. The music was somewhat similar to one of the themes in LOST, at least as far as mood. The eye thing. It also reminded me of "Memento" where you have two parts of the same story starting at different points in time meeting in the middle.
Let me guess? You have no girlfriend. :-( I actually liked this enough to send to a few friends. I was a fan of LOST, and it is copycatting, but in a good way. As to you? Learn how to respect, or crawl back under your rug. You've done nothing. And you are nothing.
