In regards to Mcgrady, interesting theory DD.

Like the previous poster noted, he even said himself he was aiming for a return around training camp. However with his past history of predictions, I think we all just wrote him off. But with what Tim Grover did with Wade, who knows.

I want to say this though. If Mcgrady comes back early next year as good as when he was healthy, we will be a 50+ win team. When healthy, Mcgrady is just as effective as Yao. And since we won 50+ last year without Mcgrady, I have no doubt we can do the same with him but without Yao.

The long shot in all this is of course Tracy coming back early in the first place, and becoming Tmac once again when he does.

Because Budinger is a 44th pick. When was the last time anyone counted on a 44th pick to lead them through championship campaigns? Oh that just happened.

Barry was very good with the Sonics.

also, our young guys have to grow up a lot faster. i think we'll be a very good team by midseason though.

in his prime, brent barry was a pretty good basketball player, esp. with seattle. 10+ points, 5+ assists, 40% 3s, so can shoot AND handle the ball like a PG. if think budinger can be a better scorer, but if he can handle/pass anywhere close to brent, we've got a HUGE steal that pick. all indications are he's going to be pretty decent.

I guess I missed where we drafted Chase Budinger to lead the team.

    Cool video DD. BUT...

Whenever I hear folks gush about how great a player looks in the Summer League, I'm reminded of Han Solo's retort to Obiwan Kenobi in Star Wars Episode 4: "Good against 'droids is one thing - good against the living is something else"

Also, given what has gone down this summer, the only value TGlass has left is his expiring contract. I have zero expectations for him as a Rocket next season and I fully expect him to hang around for the season and then depart freeing up $23 million to allow Morey to retool this team around someone not named Yao Ming. I do expect Yao to come back but no longer as the focus or foundation of the team.

I wanted T mac gone after he picked the lakers to win it all, but as soon as Yao went down I knew we should at least see what he has left.He has proven he can carry a team without Yao before, but now we have better players to compliment him.

Except for the exceptional talent (the guys like Kobe, Shaq, Hakeem, Robinson, etc...) it's very hard to guage how college talent will translate into the NBA. The reasons for this are obvious on some level - the defense in the NBA is just that much more intense, players are faster, more athletic, and stronger - so how much of a guys game is weak in one of those areas or strong will affect him a lot.

But a lot of it just that the game is totally different. A move or shot in the college game might never be available in the pro game. Also teams play you many times in the NBA over and over, with heavy scouting of all your moves, that doesn't happen in the collegiate game where you have a few days at most to prepare for who you will face. It's more about coaching then individual play.

Finally, no one can be certain how a guy will adjust. will he adopt and excel, or struggle to find a way? Does he have the work ethic and commitment to get better - or does he rest on the laurels of his belief.

Imagine, guys like Dwayne Wade get picked FIFTH. Kobe got picked 6th!

It gets harder even further down the line.

None of these guys are sure things, but none of them are sure busts - and for that alone, Morey gets some credit. If you pick up a guy who has a 15% chance of contributing versus 5%, you are doing 3 times better than the average GM.

It's a numbers game, and I think that's why Morey picked up 3 guys instead of 1.

Are those recent pics, and if so, it looks like the theory may in fact be true that the organization is sand bagging to help repair his PR image.

I'm not buying it. Those pictures look like a commercial shoot, very dramatic. He's probably still many months away.
