I thought john madden retired! lol JK!!! Anyways nice job, you're exuberance and passion is great. If the rockets come out with as much enthusiasm as your video, they might very well win the game in the 1st quarter. I expect it to be a close game, with the keys to victory being, scola getting more touches if they continue to front and double Yao. The key to beating portlands defense is not movement and cutting after penetration, but rather allowing scola and landry to punish portland for leaving them open to doulbe yao. In every game since the first, portland has allowed scola/landry WIDE open 12-15 ft jumpshots as well as multiple driving oppurtunities due to Aldridge doubling Yao. Likewise Brooks must continuing to attack the basket and instead of overdribbling, make quick decisive passes or shots. The problem with brooks has not been his lack of aggression or drives to the baskets (despite the blocks) but rather when he dribbles and dribble and dribbles without going anywhere. Instead he simply needs to attack the basket, shoot, or simply MOVE the ball (especially looking for scola or Yao in the post)... something your favorite player artest should also do. Lastly the Rockets need battier, brooks or artest or wafer (if available) to hit some threes. Defensively, the rockets must avoid cheap fouls by Yao, prolong penalty situations and thus limiting portland to contested jumpshots. Accomplish these rather pedestrian objectives and (barring a broy explosion or crazy 3 pt performance from the blazers) the rockets are surely heading to the 2nd round!!
I agree the Rockets are going to win tonight. Also, I like the part about Scola. The guy just seems to get it. He moves to the open spot when people leave him open, and he is consistent. He has been huge for us all season long and as far as I'm concerned if we continue having problems getting Yao the ball we could run a lot of plays for Scola. The guy is so consistent and his role on this team reminds me so much of Otis Thorpe's role back in the day, but with better scoring. He is one of those glue players that keeps things together.
Also, great job by the way on these videos. Its refreshing to have someone passionate about the team, that has very good takes. Its better for sure than some of the uninformed garbage I hear on national tv.
Nice job DD. Good points. Thats one of the things I hate about Adelmans coaching style, it's too passive. How come Adelman hasn't made some adjustments like Nate has, start Lowry and he'll look for cutters. Use Artest's big body for screens, or use him in the PnR.
Anybody could explain to me that I cannot see the vid? I am a fan of DD's Rox Talk, damn it I cannot see
You need to change your sig its disrespectful to a player he is going out there giving it his all on bum ankle. With out Ron we would have lost this series and have zero chance in the next. I respect your passion for the team , but your insult really rubs me the wrong way.
This game was great, had it all the way, wish I could have seen the first half...fricken OT in Bulls vs Celtics game. DD
We were down by like 4 early. Had me worry for awhile. Artest made some big shots, and got a couple of stops, and Roy went to the locker room, ended up winning the 1st quarter by two. The 2nd unit then came in and opened up a 13 pt lead, pretty much on cruise control the rest of the game
Good call on others moving when Aaron/Wafer/Artest penetrate. One it gives passing options, but two it makes their defenders react to what they do, instead of packing it in to the bucket.
Thanks, that is how you beat that junk defense that Portland was running, you move your bodies. Hopefully they keep it up next round. DD
