I thought it was more about what he deserved. He got ripped by a lot of people. I offered what I thought was some fair and constructive criticism. None of us are perfect but none of us deserves the viciousness that we see here all-to-often. He's an innovative poster who has a lot of passion for the Rockets. I don't see the crime that others do. There seems to be a vendetta going on with a couple of people. Not really sure what that is about but it's "only" an internet message board so it can't be too serious. I'm off to read Moe's diaper thread...
Blame Black Rob. He didn't really even get ripped that bad -- as someone said, those were TNT-esque photoshops. He went off into this big tangent about people making fun of his weight or looks, but I don't remember anyone calling him fat or anything. If those were "vicious", I'm glad he's decided to attempt to break into the Houston radio/tv personality scene and not New Yorks. People are annoyed with him because he's been the loudest voice and also probably one of the least knowledgeable. YoYao's shop did a good job of showing that.. and then he attacked YoYao for having no life for creating it, all while trying to maintain the faux "this doesn't bother me!" gig. Then proceeded to go on a spree of posting other peoples pictures in hopes of others photoshopping/making fun of them. All the "DD is taking the high road" post are laughable to me. I do give him props for creating his videos, and some people seem to truly enjoy them. But any "vendetta" against him is his own doing -- I could make several post on this board throughout the day with two sentence opinions, but I don't think that would make me a valuable member of this board. Forgive me for becoming annoyed with him for repeating the same post on the same. damn. page. because nobody paid his first post enough attention. I thought we rookified members for stuff like that.
I am going to attempt to help you understand where I am coming from because you are so far off base on almost everything you are saying.... A. I don't mind getting a little chopped, I thought Yo Yo and Codell's were frankly hilarious. B. I have been ripped on here about being fat lots of times, the mods can verify it, both Sam Fisher and V3.0, and others have nearly been banned for being assholes about it. C. Broadcast journalism was my degree, I had a sportscasting job offer right out of college, turned it down because frankly it did not pay enough....I used to be on KSAT 12 in San Antonio with Greg Simmons, did my internship there and covered High School football, I am not trying to break into an industry I declined more than 20 years ago. The_YoYo has been an unmitigated ass to me lately, he came into a thread in the GARM and just flat out blasted me personally, not that I ever did anything to him not sure why he decided to do that, but he did, so there is history there behind it. I have kidded him about his being so into the rep feature, maybe he got upset, I don't know.....heck maybe he thought posting the chop was the only way he could catch up in rep.....LOL (I kid, I kid) That being said, I thought what he put together was hilarious.... As for knowledgeable, yeah, I have a few misses but anyone that posts as much as I do will be able to be cherry picked, I get a ton right too, but no one is going to make a chop about that, now are they???? It's ok.....I am confident in what I know about the game, about business and the types of players I would like to see on the team. Doesn't mean they are right or wrong, but I prefer a certain style of play, lots of cuts, picks rolls, screens...that is the style of ball I love to watch. It is why I like Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Chase Budinger so much, they move off the ball, I LOVE THAT !!! And trust me, I can not post anywhere anymore without someone making a personal comment, in ANY thread....hell, I get called out in TONS of threads...all over this place.....you seem to think I want that....others do too......that is ridiculous, all I want to do is hang, talk hoops and life.....with folks.....but I can't do that anymore, mostly my fault I guess, the quickest way to improve your rep around here is to blast me......how cool is that....NOT is the answer. I do the videos because I know I post very bluntly, and people read stuff with their own cadence and voice attached, and it is generally way off of how I am meaning when I type it. Your point about the Oliver Miller post is 100% my point, I was having a laugh.....that is all, but somehow you think that I cared that no one paid my post any attention. I mean is that what you really think? This is what I am talking about people put their own spin or read on things and generate a persona about other posters. I know I do it, and I also know that I am probably wrong about how most people are in real life. Everyone I have met on Clutchfans in person has been fantastic, everyone......I imagine you would be the same.....heck, Sam Fisher has excellent taste in beer, I bet if we sat down after I punched him out, we would have a great time..... I honestly do not care about what folks think of my posts...they are all opinions....and I kept posting about Oliver Miller because you have been a butthole these last few months and I knew it bugged you.... So, now you know.....uh...not that you actually care though.... And as far as cutting back, yeah, I know I said it about 5 months ago, but the truth is, I think I need to...... The way this board used to be was a lot more friendly than it is now.....I know you will make something of that, but it is the truth, now it is more about people just blasting away....being rude, and honestly, that sucks. Really poor taste from some of you guys with the fat jokes and stuff, most of it not even clever. Just tasteless trash thrown at DD. Hopefully our mods were all over that. That said, The Oliver Miller double comment was VERY attention w****-ish DD, very diva like... Mindlessly trashing a player that many people want, in Demarcus Cousins, in the fashion that you did, makes me wonder. It seems like you are inviting the heat, yet many times it seems like you can't cope with it. I will say that it seemed out of character, and I was actually really surprised when I read it. Maybe you were on your period? Watch out for bears...
Well, perhaps people feel they can't win with you either. If they criticize you or your positions, you sometimes respond that you're misunderstood, or the board has changed, or for some inexplicable reason everyone has turned on you. Perhaps you can change your style of discussion and debate? In the end, that's what this board is about: A fair and honest give and take about the Rockets. It's not about being right or trying to convert everyone to your point of view. I'm not saying you SHOULD change, you are pretty entertaining how you are. But if you WANT people to stop bashing and criticizing you, then changing your approach might help.
No reason to continue bashing in this thread, but I will say that is 100% not the reason you posted about Oliver Miller. The first time you said it was the first time I had ever heard it -- and I only responded to your second post on the same page. It's a little much. About the last few months comment, I think you have been confusing myself and LonghornFan quite a bit lately. Two separate posters (with multiple accounts?!), my beef with you is separate. And enough about rep points -- I swear I've never heard another poster talk about rep points as much as you. You seem to think any criticism at your opinions or post is done to garner rep points -- it's ridiculous. Nobody cares about rep points except for the few wanna-be internet superstars. All I want to do is talk Rockets. It's getting to a point to where I think Clutch should just abandon the experiment -- it was supposed to separate those posters who contributed valuably to this site from the others. But instead, I see some folks who have never contributed much at all to the GARM, yet have more rep points than BimaThug, GATER, NIKEstrad, etc.. veteran posters who I've come to respect the most on basketball matters. Now days, the only thing that guarantees you rep points is a photoshop or a timely joke. I don't think it has helped the overall quality of the site.
You may be right in that I have confused you with LonghornFan, but your posting styles are fairly similar. I 100% agree with you about the rep system, as for those guys, they are all great posters but they don't have any rep because they don't post in the GARM, or rarely anymore, lots more have gone too... And people always think folks they agree with are better than others who they disagree with....lol. A fair point Mr. Clutch and something to consider. Honestly, the 2nd time I posted it I had forgotten that I had already posted it....the rest were because LTF was bugged by it. DD
