I got the first issues of about 40 of the 52. The ones I'm still getting are Justice League, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark, Batwoman, and Batman and Robin. I only recently dropped Action and Green Lantern.

Somebody said DC was rebooting every 5-7 years above and that's not exactly right. It's only happened in any real way once (The Crisis in 1985) or twice (some people count the Silver Age). Until 1985, though things had changed over nearly 50 years, all the history that came before remained intact. When they published Crisis on Infinite Earths, which was intended to simplify the continuity and make the line more accessible to new readers, they actually served to complicate things further. For the first time in comics history, we were told that most things that had happened over 50 years of comics hadn't happened. This is only the second incidence of that with DC.

DC has me sucked in to going to the comic shop in Round Rock every week now. Guess there reboot worked on me because I went from November never actually buying a single issue of a comic, to as of today spending close to 300 to 400 dollars starting with DC and ending up regularly purchasing Justice League, Batwoman, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Detective Comics Batman, Batman, StormWatch, along with a whole bunch of limited series and trades. From Hellboy, The Goon, Deadpool, Planetary, Transmetropoltian, and Fables.

Nevermind, just found out there's Batman, Detective Comics, Batman Dark Knight, and Batman and Robin. Too many to keep up with.

I like batman and detective batman. Both pretty strong even though detective #5 was kinda of boring. I've heard good things about batman and robin but I couldn't get over robin is Bruces's son. Stay away from dark knight. It is awful. Really awful.

Just curious, what made dark knight so awful?

I recommend Batman (great) and Batman and Robin (very good). I'd skip Detective and Dark Knight.

I also recommend Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Batwoman, Justice League Dark (my favorite of the whole line), Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Justice League (it's okay) and Green Lantern (also just okay).

I don't understand why this is such a big deal. You guys understand this isn't an actual REBOOT right? The 3, technically 4, previous Robins still exist. Damian has pretty much been Robin For 3 years now.

The Nightwing of the new 52 is one of the former Robins right?

Its the same Nightwing from before the new 52, it's the original Robin, Dick Grayson.

I haven't read much of the new 52, but the only comic where I really see any kind of retconning is in Justice League. That comic takes place at the beginning with a new origin for how the league got together and you can see some personality tweaks in some of the characters plus a new origin for Cyborg.

All the other books just picked up where they were before the number change. Supposedly, the characters have all deaged a few years and are at an earlier point in their career, but all the major story arcs in their lives have happened. That's a lot of stuff crammed into a short period of time, especially with Batman.

The Justice League one sounds good, may have to pick that one up as well.

I don't collect DC since I never liked them, but caught the same bug. I hadn't bought a comic book in 15 years until maybe last year when I started bidding online in auctions. I usually buy older comics from the 1930's to the 1990's. I especially like any Marvel with Galactus or another cosmic entity in it. Now I need another job to support my habit. But I'll be able to sell them for a fortune 20 years from now, right?! ;)

Having been out the loop for a long time I didnt like that story. But the detective comics batman is pretty good. And to the person asking about the dark knight, the writing is really bad. You want something in the same vain get batwoman. I'm biased with female superheroes but that comic is so well done that you have to enjoy it. That and animal man are the best written dc I've read. Swamp thing is close behind along with batman.

I'm just going back and reading stuff that I never read when I was younger either because I couldn't afford it or some other reason. The only stuff I'm reading are ones involving Fantastic Four/Galactus or storylines involving cosmic entities like the Watcher, Thanos, Silver Surfer, etc. I went back and got a few Thanos-based storylines. Things like the Infinity Gauntlet, a bunch of recent and older FF's, the newer Silver Surfer series, Thanos Imperative, Infinity War, Infinity Crusade, etc. Now I need to find some time to read them before I buy more.

It's kind of a weird feeling when you see a comic cover from the 1980's or slightly before and you remember owning it as a kid or trading it back then. Almost like some weird time-travel feeling.
