It's a snowball, not a cannon ball. Even if they were pelting cars with the snowballs, how is it ever appropriate to shoot someone over it? Would I throw a snowball and someone with a gun? Hell no, but I still don't see how the cop went from, "Oh ****! Snowballs everywhere! I better pull my weapon to defend myself!" IT'S A ****ING SNOW BALL YOU BIG p***y!
If this was a fat white cop packing heat versus a mob of angry Puerto Ricans, I think we can all safely assume that the internet wouldn't really care.
He was on a powertrip sure but you don't go mob mentality and escalate the situation by throwing a snowball at the guy. That's not going to make the situation better. Maybe he was in the car and the snowball hit on the side of the window. He didn't realize what it was until after he pulled out his gun. He's a cop he might have been conditioned to think he was being attacked? Its a high stress job even in low stress conditions. We don't know what happened before the video. All I know is the video starts and there is a guy with the gun. 1st instinct for me is to get away from that situation. Next thing I know I see a guy throw a snowball in the guys' face. Yeah smart move. Just be glad it's a cop and not some gang member. And you're absolutely right. Its JUST a snowball. Is it that important to throw snowballs around in public? Once the gun is pulled, snowball fights lose all priority and getting yourself to saftey regardless if it's a cop or not becomes priority one. Standing around and defending your right to throw snowballs is moronic.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...12/21/AR2009122103481.html?hpid=news-col-blog this is a good article about the snowball fight. just seemed like some harmless fun
This is about the weirdest thread ever for Shovel Douche to start given his energetic defense of cops tasering 10 year old girls.
anyone lambasting grownup who spontaneously engage in a snowball fight on the street needs to take their stick out of their ass... tell me this isn't awesome <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rbMljR-HU_s&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rbMljR-HU_s&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> RETREEEEEEEEEEAT!!!
If it was a white cop and he had shot the black guy.....oh sh**, I can't find my race card, I thought it was in my wallet.
this country was built on the right to throw snowballs. anyone living in the Capital of this great nation should know that... and I don't get the comment about racial undertones. I saw an angry cop pushing and shoving citizens around after he pulled a gun on the streets while off duty.
I have had bad experiences with police in the past, so by no means do I give cops a free pass, but based on this video, I have to say the officer was completely in the right. The crowd was unruly and acted like complete idiots. Just by viewing the video, you can plainly see the following offences: assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, and failure to comply. This in addition to the initial act of vandalism that is understood to have occurred prior to the beginning of the video. It's a shame that because of a knee jerk liberal public reaction, that this officer will probably be disciplined. Snowballs are projectiles and they can cause damage. Any person with any common sense knows better than to chuck them at vehicles on a public street. You will get in trouble for that here Houston, DC, or in any town if a police officer catches you. And well you should. And this crowd was so obstinate that I have no problem with the police officer having his gun drawn. It's really no different from a police officer placing his hand on his gun when you are reaching over to pull out your insurance. The police officer has to be conscious of his own safety first and foremost. Also, I wonder what occurred prior to the start of the video? I bet the camera was rolling before that and the beginning was clipped to put the spin on it that the shooter wanted.
HAHA We used to have some monster snowball fights between the frats (@100) and the dormers (@1000). Even though we had the numbers, we'd step it up a notch and fill our trash cans up with water. After dipping the snowballs in water, you had homemade baseballs in seconds. Frats broke out the fireworks to fire at the dormers to help even the fight and it was on... One guy caught a roman candle ball in his hood on a retreat that pretty much trashed his coat. But the most damage was caused when a passer-by's car was hit by a snowball and he got out with his hockey stick (his passenger friend saw the stupidity of that moved and begged him to get back in the car). Both dorm and frat became 1 for a brief moment and pelleted him and his car relentlessly. He jumped in and tried to drive his car into the crowd. The crowd parted and the guy rammed his car into a parked car. ahh - good times
